best after shaves for sensitive skin?

I must be the only person who doesn't like nivea sensitive aftershave balm....I use to use it a long time ago but it didn't really do anything for me

If you want to stick to something that is readily available in stores, you can try Neutrogena's Razor Defense Post Shave Lotion,Gillette Series After Shave Lotion,L'Oreal Comfort Max Post Shave Lotion.I really like the Gillette Series lotion myself and only costs $2 at WMart.Clinique Post Shave Healer is another great one.But it's costly.Like $18 at Macy's.

Be careful of the Nivea Sensitive ASB. A fair amount of guys report it makes them have irritation/redness/burning etc...

Institut Karite Moisturizing After Shave Balm

Good stuff indeed. But really, the benefits of Shea Butter are multiplied when you use pure unrefined organic shea butter by itself. There are tons of good things in there that are diminished by processing. It really is amazing stuff and has done great things for my skin. I have sensitive skin and I have not found a better non irritating balm than this. Completely natural.

For an AS splash, I like the Proraso brand. Even the new formulation has some "bad" stuff in it. But my skin seems to tolerate it well. Also, 4711 splash is great for my skin. Good luck!

I have Institut Karite myself. I enjoy using it on occaison too. But when I realized that the word "karite" stood for shea butter I figured why not try the real thing rather than it being diluted amongst all the other things in the cream and heavily processed. I find the skin repair/conditioning properties of the pure organic unrefined shea butter to be superior to the Institut Karite cream. After a shave nothing feels better on my skin than real shea butter by itself.

Even if you get the Nilotica kind, which is from East Africa and easier to spread and more expensive due to the civil unrest there it is still quite a bit cheaper than the Institut cream which moisturizes well, but doesn't condition my skin or fix any razor burn as easily on the rare occaision I do get it. Plus even after water contact, your skin stays hydrated. If you get the more common West Africa kind of shea butter, which is also great but just takes a bit more work to spread around, it is MUCH cheaper than Institut Karite cream. :biggrin1:

One other thing, of course the pure shea butter won't smell as nice as the Institut cream, it is more of a nutty/smoky smell but the East African Nilotica kind is much milder smelling. I myself don't mind the smell but some have complained about it.

Proraso White Liquid Aftershave is good for sensitive skin.
Nivea Balm could be a good alternative.

If you have sensitive skin get a balm. The only solution. My proposal is a fairly cheAp one: Floid balm. Cheap and really nourishing for my skin
