bent tooth- why straighten it?

Does one really have to straighten a bent tooth. I mean, does it really have that much of an effect on a shave (or really depends)?

I have a number of vintage Gillettes that have end teeth that are bent in... in my experience, those defects do not hurt the shaves with those razors. In all cases, the teeth are bent in - so the end teeth are level/on a plane with their brothers (and sisters?).

I proceed unhindered! And... seems to me the risk of breaking a tooth off (while trying to straighten it) ain't worth it.

I am 100% in agreement. I have a number of wonderful razors, a Tuckaway, an ABC pocket edition, all with a bent tooth or two. It does not effect the shave at all. I've had some success with bending teeth back into alignment but with a number of recent disaster stories on the forum about snapped teeth, I'm never doing it again.

Good news guys! Thanks!
The outer tooth is bent inwards to the second tooth, they are at the same level.
I assumed it really doesn't matter but now I'm certain!

Ditto.
The first one I tried, I broke a tooth on a good british NEW.
A few others I've tried have been successful though.
The main reason being I deliberately broke the end teeth off the one I already have stuffed up, then used it as a tool to intermesh the broken head between the teeth of the others, to support the teeth of the good head I'm straightening up so the second tooth I'm using for leverage doesn't break.
edit: Of course there's plenty of souplex and empire combed heads out there you could use as a tool of you don't want to munt up a gillette head. Not that it was my intention to stuff up my british gillette new. But it's hard to straighten them without heat, so only worth trying to straighten unless you were planning on replating anyway.

I only bothered in straightening head that aren't rare, that have lost all their plating and I was considering getting them replated.
If they were rare or if I wasn't considering replating I wouldn't attempt to straighten bent teeth. Ive got a 1918 OLD with the end teeth bent that I'm not going to touch (or replate)

Same here. I have used several with bent teeth and they are no different in performance to one with perfectly aligned teeth as long as the bends are inward, which is by far the most common bend.
