Bent blades - still usable?

Hi,

I just received a batch of 100 astra blades, but to my dismay the package was somewhat crushed during shipping (i'll talk to the seller about this). Some of the of blade packs were more or less bent right down the middle and are in a permanent 'V' shape. My question is whether or not the blades are still usable. I've attached a picture of one of the blades, would any of you guys still use this blade? one side of the blade has a more pronounced 'V' shape then the other.

I would not think twice before putting that blade in a razor and shaving with it. The bend seems minimal and runs the length of the blade, this same bend happens as soon as the blade is clamped into the razor anyway. Had the blade been bent in the middle and run perpendicular to the alignment slot, I would probably not have used the blade. The cutting edge of your blades don't appear to have been harmed at all.

Edit: Unless you notice that the extra pressure during shipping also happened to harm the cutting edge by rubbing it up against the side of the wrapping paper or box.

Thank you for your reply! When installed in the razor, the blade, or the exposed blade anyway, looks pretty normal. The only thing i noticed is that there is a very slight misalignment of the blade, probably due to the V shape still being more pronounced on one side even when the blade is installed.

I'll give them a go, the price of the postage would be more then the value of the blades should i return them and i hate throwing away stuff which could have come to use.

If you notice something not right, take it out and turn it over. My thinking would be to put them in bend UP and let the head take it down to the safety bar.

What ever you do don't try to bend them back as they will snap in half very easily

++1.. but if you can get the seller to replace them, even better.

Talked to the seller and he kindly offered to send 100 new blades as a replacement - fantastic service! Will still try to use the bent blades though, as long as the edge is not damaged.
