What's new

been away for a while . was hit by a drunk driver.

its been a while since ive been able to be here very much. i was hit by a drunk driver while driving home a while back. spent a few days in the hospital and have been just recently getting back to work in the last couple weeks. some broken bones, cuts, a minor concuss. etc, luckily nothing more serious was kept for a few days for monitoring. the whole point of this post is PLEASE do not drink and drive. luckily i walked away for the most part but i have still healing to do, car is totaled ... gone.... and to top it off this jerk had no insurance at all. he was arrested and now i have to deal with a lawsuit against him and my insurance. bills have stacked up like crazy on top of not having a car currently till my insurance figures out what they are doing.

its been a long difficult process all because someone had a few before leaving the bar or where ever he was coming from. thank god my family did not get injured in this mess, me is one thing but if they were hurt badly i dont know what i would have done. and thank god i was not on my bike that could have and probably would have ended much much worse. i dont want this to sound like a bo ho type of thing either. just a reminder to anyone of the end result of what happened in this case. i will not say i dont drink ever because i do but i also take the responsibility to make sure im sober or have someone else drive or pick me up instead.

thank you so much to all those who sent words of kindness in this mess and asked how i was (those that knew) it was very much appreciated. the only bright side is i was driving our armada and my car was totaled but his was left in pieces so he has no car to take away from this. i am however very glad he was not hurt even considering the circumstances i would not wish that on anyone even him (if my wife or daughter was badly hurt or killed then maybe it would have been a much different feeling i dont know)

so please just think about that next time...

thank you both so much!! everyone who knew here and all my other places around the web really helped me think positive through it all. i just really wanted to post this but i was torn on doing so. i dont want you guys to think its like a bo ho story. i really just want those here to think next time because it could be a fellow B&B'er and their family in the other car.

Glad you are OK! It's not a boo-hoo story at all. It's a good reminder that every action has consequences and not only bad people get hurt! I drink as well, but if I'm not within walking distance, I hold myself to one drink or hand the keys to a DD. Welcome back!

Sorry to hear about this. I realize from what you've said things are tough, but at least the family still has you. Hope you have a quick recovery.

I am glad you walked away from it. This week is the most deadly week for Chile on the roads, with Independence Day, where people try to fit a year of party into just a few days. Your message is timely.

I hope all goes well in the recovery, and the suit is quick and painless.

Eloquently said!

I'm sorry that you've had to go through this pain and aggravation. Wishing you good stuff in the future.

you know and i said this to someone else just now... imo its amazing that its so hard to find people today who still care about others till you come here to B&B!! and it is really great to know that! thank you all!

Sorry to hear that!
I am very sorry that you met someone who failed to adhere to the simple "Do Not Drink & Drive!" rule

I hope you'll make a full recovery, and that the financial issues will be soon cleared.

I wish you a speedy recovery. I think everyone should see this post as a little reminder of how precious life is, and that we have a duty to each other to respect and protect others' lives by acting responsibly.

Welcome back and keep positive on the healing.

The closest I ever come to drinking and driving is a double shot of Bay Rum splash on the face before heading out. I really wish others had the same considerations. :(

Sorry for what happened, but please ... don't go to court with the attitude that he was drunk and must therefore be responsible for the accident. That does not follow.
You say that he hit you. If that is literally the case, then that fact will support your case, but you need to make that point, and any others that indicate his guilt.

i don't think I could say it any better than Ed has, and am glad you are getting better.
