Beauty Strokes H.I.S. Bullet

Does anyone have the specs on this & know where to buy one? The standard H.I.S. looks much too large for travel.

Sorry, haven't even heard of the bullet. If you find out please let me know though because I bought the regular one and it is the best brush I've used (better than my $200 brushes).

I have been in discussions with the company and they are planning an August 2012 release date. I do not have any more information past this point, but I will let you know when I find out more.

I was just thinking after trying mine this morning that it would be a lot better with a shorter loft. I would like to see an emulation of a Chubby style with the same knot diameter of the version they have now but shorter loft. The backbone on these is very strong considering the softness of the tips. But the loft is so long that it tends to 'snap' from one flop extreme to the other. Water doesn't get the bristle more flexible since it is a synthetic.

The face feel would be tiny if they dont increase the knot size. I say bump it up to 30+mm for a Chubby style brush. Or since they are so popular make several sizes.

Their regular brush is 28mm, I think, and the loft on mine is 65mm. It might cost you a handle but I think it could be done easily.

I was thinking about buying a second one, cutting the hairs flush and putting it into a new 30+mm knot handle with no more than 42mm loft since they are kind of floppy. Kind of a Chubby 3 imitation with outrageously soft tips at a total cost of under $100 or so.

You both are running along my line of thinking.

While I love the idea of a shorter loft than the 28mm, that handle on the 21mm has a mug only a mother could love.

Also I'm wondering if they will be able to keep up with the demand of yet another brush, I received a clear handle brush a while back and it was very good quality and the wait time was only a week or so, no real complaints. I recently received a black handled version and not only had to wait 18 days, it had tons of rubbing compound stuck in the crevices that took about 30 minutes with a toothbrush to get rid of completely. There was also a thick patch of adhesive goo on the bottom of the handle where you could clearly see they ripped a price/SKU/made in Thailand sticker off and didn't bother cleaning it any further, some GooGone took care of it and overall the brush is in good working order...but it was still annoying. I know it's a low priced brush, but the increasing wait times and what appears to be a slow decline in overall quality control makes me wonder about their current lineup...let alone new additions.

That's not the approach I'd take. Let me look around a see what I have for handles, I know I have 3 or 4 30mm handles. If I get bored I'll whip one up. I'm thinking more in the 50-55 for loft for starters.

I've received mine (original, not the bullet) and am quite impressed. I think it is a terrific brush, but with poor specifications, as many have mentioned.

Here is a suggestion that worked quite well for me: I used a ponytail holder/elastic at the base to make it feel like a shorter loft. Similar to this. The brush still feels big in your hand, but it is much firmer. I quite liked it...

I'd love to this brush made with a different loft and handle (with no -- or almost no -- price increase), but it is working very well now.

Best to all,

So now that people have had their hands on these brushes for a while, how are they breaking in? While mine still has commanding backbone (for such a crazy high loft), its loosening up a LOT. The longer I have it, the more it starts to feel like a higher lofted silvertip. Its not a problem yet, but its loosing some of its original scrub.

I am curious what everyone else was experiencing? How much are these breaking in with extended use?

Loric, one thing I have found helpful in speeding up a "break in" has been to use a blow dryer about two minutes every day which helps to expand the knot. Don't overheat, but just blow hot air down on the top of the brush to let the knot expand daily and it will flex out a bit.

Thanks, but to be honest I dont want it to break in any more. The best thing about this brush is the backbone and lack of bloom. I had assumed that with it being a synthetic it would not break in very much, and would keep almost all of its original backbone. Break in, is not a problem yet, but if it goes much farther I think the brush will get to floppy for me to enjoy.

This really works at the tips not too far down in the brush. Now it has loosened at the ends and feels even softer than before.
