What's new

Bartex

A strange brushless croap from the beautiful Nederlands. The scent is a 5 & dime rosey, floral feminine scent, not to the point of Liberace walking onstage, but very "bright", I liked it,and don't write letters,I liked Liberace as well !...I managed to decypher "apply with fingertips, let sit one minute" on the Dutch instructions.I was warned by a Dutchman on this forum to let it sit on the face 2 minutes, and I did just that.It is impossible to apply with fingertips ! I scooped a small glob of this soft croap, massaged it between the palms, then massaged it into the beard for 2 minutes. This is good for 2 passes,I need more !!.I ended up lathering my face 3 times, and I managed a true bbs shave. You can't grasp a razor handle or certain faucet handles when Bartex is on your hands,it's just too damn slippery,so you must rinse and waste the Bartex between latherings. The after effects are a really smooth, supple and soft face, and my old mug has a lot of mileage on it matey !...Bartex,weird,but unique, fun and recommended !

I am glad you like it malochio! Though it isn't as good imo as a decent soap and brush I still have good memories of Bartex, my main shaving product for 2 decades or more. I think I will get me some again, just for fun and nostalgia!

Eric is a master in finding old stock of discontinued products, it seems! :001_smile

Eric is good at that, very true, but this is not old stock as far as I know; it is new production by another company but supposedly with the old recepie.

Does this new jar look like the old jar ??

That is interesting. I thought the Bartex brand name was sold to Labori. I didn't expect them to resurrect the product, but then they brought back Pitralon to the shops as well!

Who knows what they are up to!

I dug out my old jar of Bartex Snelscheercreme , and thought I would give it another spin.....Can anyone translate the instructions on the jar please ???

Translation from Dutch:

Instructions: Wet your face. Apply a thin layer of Bartex with your fingertips. Allow to soak for 1 minute and shave with a sharp knife.

Thanks Greyzer !!...I figured that was it,but this stuff is rock hard, not so easy to apply ,I'm working on it !

Had another go at it this morning. This stuff is dry ,crumbly and hard in the jar , strong scent ,perfumy.Once massaged into the skin ( after a double wash-rinse prep ) the hard soap turns into a "cream"..I gave both head and face a good 3 minute massage with the Bartex, then went to work with a fat handled Tech loaded with a fabulous vintage Personna 74 a fellow shaver gifted me with recently....The shave was like an oil shave ,but the blade rinsed off much faster and easier. The protection is on par with the very best protective creams / soaps / oils. The shave was extremely close ,with zero irritation,in fact the skin is left moist and pliable, really nice conditioning qualities in Bartex..I can heartily recommend Bartex , a gem from the Nederlands...:thumbup1:
