Barefoot, or with shoes?

Do you shave barefoot or with shoes?

  • Barefoot is the way I roll.

  • Shoes for sure.

While shaving last week I knocked the alum block on the floor by accident. That got me thinking. Do I need toe protection while shaving? How about you? Do you shave barefoot with you toes exposed to falling straight razors, or do you cover up with a good pair of shoes?!

Two weeks ago I was chopping wood with an axe in my slippers.
At one point - I looked down and realized just how stupid that was.

Safety rules apply to all things sharp I think.

No shave related foot injuries for me.

Been doing so with a straight for over a year. The only mishap was when SWMBO decided to be nice and provide a new bar of soap. She put it on top of the door rail, which is where I store my blade and brush, but she is not tall enough to see the blade.
Thankfully, the tub is glass and it did not open... the scales protected it. Didn't fall anywhere near my feet though.
Even before I started shaving in the shower, I had never dropped a straight or DE.

For the first 6 months I shaved with a straight, I stood in front of the sink. Before that, when using carts, I've shaved in the shower nearly my entire life.

Having seen a good number of major injuries due, in part, to the sharpness of straight razors I opt to use common sense when handling anything that sharp.

I shave myself in slippers. And If the straight razor falls, I let it falls, I will never catch it with my hand or my foot, too dangerous for me :blushing:

I've had a similar worry about the level of protection needed while shaving, but mine was more about keeping a towel tightly wrapped around my waist. Losing a toe doesn't seem so bad once you consider the -other- possible loss.
