Barber straight blade shave

Hello Guys I am new to the forums and was just curious, on a recent trip to vegas I decided to get my hair cut at the hotel I was staying, the Bellagio, well nice older lady from Russia ( olga ) talked me into a straight blade shave using a pre shave oils, hot towels, lets just say I have never had a shave that smooth and soft in my life i was instantly addicted, if you ever get a chance in vegas go see her, anyway I live in the houston area and I have looked for months for salons that still offer that type of barber shop grooming to no avail.
Is there any places left that offer that kind of thing, not even high end female salons only offer a fusion shave, there was a place called Roosters if you look online they say all types of different options but realistically it is the same old basic shave
I was just curious if anyone knows of places anymore that offer that, not many old style barbers any more, atleast not what I can find in houston

Welcome to B&B!

I noticed there is a Memorial Barber Shop at 5510 Memorial Drive and the Best Little Barbershop in Texas at 3823 Dunlavy St (ask for Lupe) in Houston that both offer straight razor shaves.

Hope that helps.

I just joined this forum, so I'll give you my experience. I have a heavy beard and sensitive skin, so a wet shave with a double edge razor is the only way to go for me. I wear a full beard, but shave my chin and a little on my face. For my 48th birthday, my wife booked me for an old fashioned barbershop shave at George's Hairstyling in the Wall Street area of Manhattan. The idea was to shave everything off except for the mustache. I was a bit apprehensive.
Guys, if you have never had a barbershop shave with a straight razor wielded by someone who knows what they're doing, I pity you. The entire experience was an absolute pleasure from the initial lather and hot towel to the Bay Rum and final whisk. My face had never felt smoother, either!

I know there is a barber in downtown Austin that does a straight shave if you are ever in town. I have been to Roosters and while I like their hair cuts, they only use a fusion for shaving so I passed on that.

I live in a pretty small city with an old-timey town square. It is where they filmed "Ground Hog Day" if you've ever seen that movie. Anyways there is a small barber shob I've been getting my hair cut at on and off for the last 25 years. When they go to do the back of your neck, up to your hair line, they always use the straight razor and lather king hot lather, rather than the clippers. They also offer reasonably priced straight razor shaves.

For some reason I can't bring myself to let someone else shave me. It just feels too personal, even from a barber i've been going to since I was 4 years old. Anyone else have this problem?

I think Joe Lee's barbershop does them. I used to get my haircut there (I think the guy's name was Ambrose).
