Balm suggestions

I've moved away from alcohol splashes because they really just dried my skin out too much, so I've switched to using an alum block followed by Nivea Extreme Comfort Balm. It's ok but I'm not crazy about it. I've already tried the Nivea ESB.

I only want to spend around $20.

What do you think of Men-u Lift, Anthony Logistic Razor Burn Relief, or AOS balms? I don't want too much menthol either.

I just purchased Men-U Moisture lift from Westcoast Shaving. I love it because it does leave your skin with a non-greasy, light talc powder feel to it and the best part is the lingering cooling feeling on your face.
It feels great after applying it in the morning and heading outside into the cool morning air :w00t: refreshing wake-up.
But Men-U is definately not a balm for those looking for one without menthol. Although I think its the Tea Tree in it that is giving it that effect.

Anthony's Razor Repair is great stuff too. Nice, light moisturising, non greasy, subtle peppermint scent to it. :thumbup1:

Well, I got impatient :001_rolle and bought the Pre de provence balm from Westcoastshaving. I was going to buy the Men-U but it was sold out. Guess I have Riley to thank for that

I've read good thing about the PDP so hopefully I'll have good results

Good call Sir, you wont be disappointed. The truth be known Pre De Provence is my favorite. I wanted to recommend it too but I was spouting off about it in another thread already

You will not be disappointed! I used it yesterday. It is one of my favorites. I will soon be getting some Trumpers skin food that is awesome. Between the two, you may not need anything else

Check out the QED products from Charles - the lavender is outstanding, for $20 you can almost get 2 flavors. All natural and very moisturizing - great for winter.

Spieck balm is also very nice if you like the scent (which I do). AOS is excellent but pricey IMO.

I was also going to plug QED's products....fine product! Hydrolast makes an excellent coditioner that costs more than you wanted. However it is like a cream and a tub would last at least twice as long as most balms. Try the peppermint.

CO Bigelow #1200 is good stuff. Cost is $15 and available through bath and body.

This is a good low scent, effective balm. Worth trying, and if you like it you can stock up during the BOGO sales that Bath & Bodyworks has every so often.

+1 on that. Charles is a great guy and will help you out with any questions you might have.

I'll also throw in for Baxter of California ASB. It's gel-like, so it absorbs almost instantly. The menthol is in a small enough concentration that it won't give you a problem if you are prone to irritation.

I really like the Nivea "cooling" Aftershave Balm... good balance in it... and a GREAT scent. Super cheap, found at Wal-Mart, Etc.

Loathed balms but just tried 444 for the first time and it is amazing sensation. Vintage Scent recommends mixing it with a cologne. I use a dab of bay rum and :001_cool:

In the winter when I want a little more moisture (I live in Milwaukee...dry and cold) I use Cade from L'Occitane. Very nice, thick, but absorbs quickly. Most days I use The milky balm from the The Gentleman's Refinery, but that is pricey (but soooooooo worth it!).
