Bait and switch - Buyer beware

Hey All, I decided to purchase a revamped Gillette "New" razor with new nickle. I went to a website that is often seen here on the forums. I don't want to give the name until I give them a chance to make things right, so we'll just call them "Razor E"....I went to their website and saw a New type that was revamped, looked good in the photos for $90, so I went for it. I don't mind the small cracks in the handle or the bent teeth, that's just part of the charm. But what really bothers me is when I am sent a razor anything BUT what I thought I bought. It had the wrong head, looked like the head from a Service Set where the blot shows on top, not buffed out smooth, the lines in the bottom were worn smooth....so I feel this was a bait and switch, show pictures of a great looking razor and then switch and send a sub standard quality razor. Does it seem to you as well that what they did to me was right? Or am I making a big mountain out of nothing? I saved the pictures of the razor I thought I bought, and it looks nothing like the one I purchased, or thought I purchased.

Oh oh.......this is going to be an interesting thread.........they have a very colorful reputation on this site. Try to make it right and when you do runaway from there as far as you can.

Thank You krona Kruiser, somehow I missed that thread. being a newbie isn't easy and I have a lot to learn. decided to just go the PP route and try to get a refund and send it back to them. Then wash my hands of them forever. I don't believe they will make it right from what I have read.

PP good choice and your best route, Then wash your hands with them, We need a sticky here for complaints from memebers on interent sellers, and after newbies read other memeber stories , they can make there own mind if they shpuld continue to soliciate such sellers.

Call the credit card company (you DID use a credit card right?), contest the charge. Razor E should be in touch with you soon. Don't pay for crap.

It just sucks that you have to deal with that. The majority of our community is out to help each other and make our hobby enjoyable.

Don't tolerate bad business. Think about where YOU would be if you did your job poorly and were indifferent to calls for improvement.

Well I bought a tuckaway set from them and sent it back due to the fact that it had the wrong head on it which wouldn't have been bad but the fit was poor. Meaning loose!
The case had been "revamped". Very poorly I might add. The listing didn't even mention that it had the wrong head on it. I didn't notice it until I received it. To be fair though they refunded my money as soon as they got it back.

What gets me though is the fact that they are so knowledgable on razors. How could they not be? That I cant excuse them not knowing the head was the wrong one.
The only good thing is the loads of scans they have of Gillette catalogs and instructions etc. Which adds even more weight to the argument that they should have known better.

I had briefly considered sending them my toggle for a re-plate. Good thing I didn't given the prices those things go for. I might not have ever got it back.

Reading that other thread just set in stone my resolve to never give them any business.

We all here try to be fair to other sellers and vendors alike, but some vendors just dont seem to get better with time and we all suffer the consequences, i would contact paypal and dispute the purchase.

I didn't know better ... but had a razor "revamped" from those guys ... Not a very good job ... and I'm not an expert, but I could have done better doing it myself.

Listen, I've had my own altercations with "Razor E" and they did finally make things right, although I had to do some of the final work myself. The point is go after them, dispute the Paypal charges, write a nasty note saying how disappointed you are and the fact they misled and were fraudulent in their advertising & pictures. And small cracks and bent teeth are not considered to be a part of a revamping service, especially for $90. The guy you want to write a note to is Matt Pisarcik who is one of the owners. He seems to listen somewhat and given all the bad press they receive will probably try and fix you up. I hope.

Trust huck on this one! That whole fiasco he had with them still makes me mad! The best you can do is fight to make this right, and warn people when needed to stay away. Man I wished they would straighten up. They are a banned vendor just about everywhere for a reason.

http://westcoastrazors.com/ One of the fellows with an impeccable reputation, both here and at TSD, runs West Coast.

I decided not to do business with "Razur E(eek)" based on a conversation with Matt about plating set-up and processing. I would sum it up by saying, "they've read quite a bit, understood some of it, and apply little of it well.":wink2:

There have been countless stories about the emporium..... They ate a banned Vendor on here for a reason. We have several great restorer of razors on this forum a members.... Above the tie, restored razors, and west coast razors are all examples of members that love this hobbie and do excellent work.

I'm always mad as hell when this happens as it helps to tarnish the reputation of the guys who are doing great things and keeping vintage razor alive for the next generation.

I hope things work out.....It took Huck months and at the end, he had to do finally buffing himself to get a razor that was acceptable. Good luck brother.....and in the future....use the search button here, ask questions, PM active members.....we are all here to help!!!!!!
