Badger brush sterilization

Enough heat to be effective will damage the glue and likely the handle. It could perhaps be clinically sterilized in a gas unit.
If it is a used brush that concerns you, very, very few pathogens can survive outside of the body in a dry environment for more than a couple of weeks.
Those that can survive longer, you are likely exposed to on a regular basis already.

Vasectomy.

You're not going to "sterilize" a porous object like that. "disinfect" is a better term.
Just give it a thorough washing in an anti-bacterial soap, and let it dry completely on a windowsill in the sun.
Some folks have used Barbicide, but there have been documented problems with damage to hair from exposure to it.

I wonder what would happen to a brush exposed to gamma irradiation. I know that it tints window glass temporarily. Perhaps someone who works in a hospital could sneak a cheap brush in with the other things that get sterilized.

Yes, radiation would be much safer than cooties.
