B&B shaving brush?

I have been seeing those clear/metallic looking badger brushes with the Badger & Blade logo on it. Are they still available?

That specific brush is called the BBE, short for Badger & Blade Essential; it is no longer available. The only place you'll be able to find one is on the BST section of the forum.

I gotta think having a constant supply of B&B Essentials (in some incarnation) would be a fairly consistent source of income for B&B. Although, if it were viable, I'm sure there would be one available today.

It would be nice if Rudy Vey or someone (no connection to Rudy... I just like the look of the poly handles he makes) were commissioned to make a BBE with logo for sale to those interested. If Rudy (or someone) made and shipped the brushes as they were requested, Joel and others hard at work making B&B run smoothly wouldn't have to worry about ordering or shipping BBEs. A tgn knot set at 50mm would make a good "essential" that wouldn't cost a new member a fortune. A portion of the proceeds could go to B&B for use of the logo. Just an idea.

I really like the black and white handled brushes here.

As far as I know, the BBE was supposed to be a continuously available brush. There were two batches made, the second of which did not match the quality of the first. Instead of selling brushes of varying quality, they discontinued the BBE after the second batch. I don't think the B&B logo will be licensed to an artisan brush maker, but clearly the LE series of B&B brushes are popular enough that we'll be able to get B&B products well into the future.

You are correct about the BBE. However, the LE is a lot of work to put together, and not everyone can afford one. Most people, particularly those starting out, need and want a good, affordable brush. They're usually not itching to spring for a Rooney Finest in the beginning. My thought was that instead of pointing new folks toward an EJ BBB or Tweezerman, we could say, "You know what? There's a great B&B brush that's affordable. Just contact (so and so), and he'll get you set up with one." I just figured outsourcing the creation of a BBE of good quality would drum up some cash for the site. B&B also wouldn't have to order up a batch of 100 or whatever if this brush were made by someone that was willing to make and ship them as demand dictated. It would also be a way for members to get a cool logo brush, while supporting B&B. Like I said, just an idea.

It would be cool to get rooney to make a B&B essentials brush like T&H offers.

Maybe even get shavemac to make a pure badger brush for us, try to keep the cost down while offering a good 1st brush for everyone.

Keeping these made in the USA would cut down on a lot of hassle with customs, import fees, ordering in bulk, etc. I'd think it would be best not to have one of the big manufacturers make these.

A 20mm Finest TGN knot costs $19. Set that at 50mm (loft) in a well-made handle, and you've got a very affordable, nice brush that would be better than any pure badger brush out there. Sell it for $45 or so, and $10 from each brush sale goes to B&B. Ka ching.
