ATTN: All good Englishmen

I just stumbled out of my local pub here in San Diego California and I loved the meal I ate at this establishment!!! Bangers and mash. Delish! But I sit and wonder, what are real English/British dishes like? Do any of you fine gentlemen have any home cooked meals your willing to share with foreigners? I would love you folks to post rescipes of your favorite dishes. I'll cook em' and offer them to my friends and family. What do you say???! BTW I love English stouts, but I'd die for good Irish stouts. Please share with one food loving man. I had a Banana Bread Lager tonight that blew my top- from England...

Reminds me of my college days - an expat British couple started up a restaurant with real English food, and even had Watney's on tap. Perfect thing to wash down Cornish pasties:thumbup:

Hmmmm..... Bread and butter pudding....

Oh additional;

Dripping on toast :D

Spam fritters, corned beef hash, or my favourite, steak and chips :D

Although, if you go uber-traditional, you can go for:

Jellied eels,
Hunters pie (Venison, Rabbit, Pidgeon, Partridge/Pheasant),
Fish and Chips, always,
Full English (Heart attack on a plate),

Tom

Quick warning-most of the suggestions already given are not suitable if you're watching your cholesterol!

Top Trumps - Roast Beef with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy, served with horseradish sauce and English mustard. (optional veg. cabbage then if there are any left-overs you can make Bubble & Squeek!)

I'm getting REALLY hungry now

Tried a bite once

and from my adopted homeland (SWMBO is a Wallace) Stovies! :biggrin1:

(1/4 Welsh from my father's side  )

My Great-Granddad was a wallis, family lore is we are related to Barnes Wallis.....

Stovies, great, they'll have ye' haverin' pretty soon...... One of my mates is glasgow born, he regaled us with tales of the celtic love of all things deep fried.... :D

As a Glaswegian I can confirm. If it can't be deep fried it's not worth eating.

Lest we forget, in our roll-call of British food...

Chicken Tikka Masala
any Biryani
Chicken Vindaloo
Lamb Rogan Josh

What would Olde Engerlunde be without such fine Indian fayre from the Raj?
