What's new

Asheville NC meet up

At this point The Captain is sure wishing he was there. Family obligations interfere but what a blast for those going. Thanks to Rick for being the conductor and putting it all together.

I got in two huge boxes packed full of hair pomade to give away. Y'all going to leave looking purdy and smelling nice.

Rick - can you update your first post with any pertinent info? like the link to the webpage, event address, floor plan, hotel info, time, whos going or whatever else you think people will need to keep track of etc. Do we have a general idea of what the plans are for the day? Lunch/dinner ideas? Is this just b&b or are there other forums attending? just curious

I've never been to a meet like this where im mostly interested in meeting people and being shown stuff or see things in real life. Lots of us dont have places to go and smell soaps or hold brushes before you buy it and stuff like that. I would love to see other peoples stuff and talk to them about it even if they're not "vendors" or have tables set up - like a big show and tell?

I can't edit the post but you can always check www.ashevillewetshavers.weebly.com. Also look at all the vendors that have donated!! Pretty awesome.
Lunch will be decided then. Will kind of be a who wants to do what type deal. Afterward I think many will join together for dinner. I may have a salad back at the hotel and call it good. Who knows? No concrete plans on all that.
At least 3 forums, 2-3 fakebook pages and who knows where else.

If folks are interested, bring some of your shaving soaps and creams that you wouldn’t mind letting others try. Also bring a brush, a bowl and some tap water from home. Kevin will have a table or 2 set up where folks can meet and play with lather. The idea is to let folks experiment with soaps and creams they haven’t tried before and see if they like them, and see if they work well with their brush and water before ordering them. Kind of a way to try before you buy. I’ll be bringing some of my Stirling Soap samples with me if anyone wants to try them. A few others have mentioned bringing some of their soaps for folks to try out as well.

I'm definitely interested in some show and tell. I hope to see a kent bk8 brush and a georgetown pottery scuttle in person.

Id like to see a lathering challenge. And a shave off. That'd be awesome. I can't get stirling to lather for anything. But I can get Williams, mwf and anything else.

I always press Stirling into a rubbermaid take along with a screw lid. I just lather directly in that on the puck. Works like a charm

Hi All,

Here is an update from Kevin.

UPDATE : Brush Makers and Restoration - Guys This is for You!

Our team has been working the magic, behind the scenes once again, to give you the best experience we can at this meet up! In addition to honing demonstrations, a unique brush turning demo, restoration workshop, hands on stropping area, and personal help with barber hones, the TEAM has added yet another bonus on, Brush Turning! This is definitely the place to ask your questions!

We are happy to announce that through discussions with General Manager, Coleman Fourshee Sr. of Klingspor Woodworking, a demonstrator from Klingspor will be coming up from Hickory, NC, to do demos on brush turning and other items. For those that might not know of Klingspor, they are one of the finest woodworking stores around. Besides making some of the finest abrasive belts and paper, they are great guys to work with!
You can see them here at http://www.woodworkingshop.com

After telling Coleman, that as of 4/3/14, we had close to 40 confirmed people coming from as far away as Kansas City, MO and St. Paul, MN, he said lets help them out with shipping if they want something from us. So after talking this through, Coleman has given us permission to post his phone # and personal extension for anyone that would like Klingspor to bring items with them when they come. You may call him direct and preorder with a 10% discount and it will be brought to you Saturday morning so if you are running low or need something they will hand deliver it to the meet up and there will be no shipping charges! If there is something in the catalog you have an interest in, but don’t want to preorder, call in and see if they will bring it so you can take a look at it.

You may contact Coleman at the #’s below.
