Arko Arko Arko!

Been wet shaving for years now, but since I've joined this forum and watched several YouTube shaving videos, I've realized how much I didn't know, especially in the types of shaving products out there. As a result I have been introduced to a boar brush (and love it), and tried many soaps and creams that I never knew existed. But the one that has so many people divided is the infamous Arko shaving stick. Well, I figured it's high time I entered the sub-culture of Arko users. So I recently ordered a couple sticks, and they should soon arrive at my home. So, hopefully in a few days I can give my own review! :)

You can never have too much Arko :001_smile

I heard about Arko from the guys here, and I have tried a few other soaps, and creams. So far there's nothing that I would rather use. Arko is the bomb diggitty.

Having heard so much about Arko, I was delighted to get a tube via PIF at the recent Seattle area wetshavers meetup (thank you, Topgumby!). I haven't tried it yet since I am waiting to finish one of the soaps/creams which I already have going. I figure 5 different types at one time is enough.

Used Arko for the second time today. (I make an uber lather with it and Kiss My Face/glycerin). GREAT shave and terrific lather.

If I hit the "New Posts" button on B&B and don't see an Arko thread, I know something's wrong with the universe.

I finally received my first stick of Arko yesterday in the mail. Took a big whiff of it, expecting the worst. It was quite strong but not as bad as I was expecting. I am letting it air out for a while before I use it and think it will be quite nice once the odor dissipates a bit.

Or... everyone has and loves their Arko, and all is well. Invisibility is an aspiration of any product. The idea that your product is so common that no one notices, but can't live without it.

I am not too crazy about the stick. I think that is what my local Turkish barber used when I was stationed there about 40 years ago. Their creams are another story, my favorite with Dalan d'men is also great.

The haters thread merely popped up to provide balance to statements such as the one above. lol

I really don't get the Arko hate, nor do I really get the Arko cult. But I sort of understand the love, given that it is so cheap and a great performer--an excellent value. But let's be clear, it isn't the best performing, nor best smelling, product out there. But it isn't garbage and skunky either. Can't there be a middle ground?

And, yes, as soon as I typed that I realize the answer is "No! There is no middle ground!"
