Are your second and/or third passes the same as the first?

Are all your passes the same?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Sometimes

Results are only viewable after voting.
For instance, my first pass usually goes L cheek, R cheek, L neck, R neck, upper lip, chin but on my second pass I do my chin second to last then my upper lip last.

Yes. I think that I follow the same routine for at least twenty years already. It's a pattern that obviously works for me, so there's not need to change.

I start with the neck, going from south to north. Then I do my cheeks, then my chin, and then under my nose. My second pass is ATG, except for the neck area, where I do a south to north pass again.

Definitely not:

Lather face, then head.

Pass 1
WTG -
North to South from temple to jawline
Throat, South to North (to halfway up neck)
Throat, North to South (Jawline to halfway down)

Shave head ATG - 1 pass + clean up - South - North (or down to crown)

Pass 2
Relather face
XTG on face (same as above, but oblique from centerline to outboard)

Pass 3
Relather face
Reverse direction from pass 1

Thouch ups as needed using fingers for lathering

4 passes for me every day

N to S (top to bottom)
E to N (ear to nose)
N to E (nose to ear)
S to N (bottom to top)

Don't think I really have a set routine. The first pass is usually the same but after that I just kinda go where the blade leads me

First pass is N-S on my cheeks, chin-ear on My neck
Second pass is ear-Chin on My cheeks, N-S on My neck
Third pass is S-N on cheeks, ear-Chin on neck, These are ATG for me

I started using a slant, and three passes seems to be too much, so I'm toying with the best two pass combo. I'm torn, because I like to shave, so maybe two passes is too short a time? :wink2:

It depends on if the passes were successful or not because it can vary day to day. I'm always seeking better passes towards better quality.

Right cheek & chin - Ear to Nose
Left cheek & chin - Ear to Nose

Pass 3 - ATG face/XTG neck

Touch-up is unpredictable.

ETA - this took longer to think about and type than it does to do. :001_tongu

I don't really fixate on it. I usually start from the either side of my face working to the other in north to south passes. Then I do from either side of my face working towards the middle, which sometimes starts on my cheeks and other days starts down on my throat. Then I do upward strokes starting on one side and working towards the other.

Yes, quick and easy for me. 2 passes, both WTG.

I can't do XTG or ATG on my neck without getting horrible ingrown hairs, and the second WTG pass leaves me with a DFS every time. BBS is all well and good, but it only lasts for a few hours, and the ensuing irritation isn't worth it for me.

I goofed in my voting. I initially thought you meant the same as in WTG, WTG, or XTG, XTG. The correct answer for me is YES, EVERY TIME. I am a creature of habit and I shave in the same order every single time. Right cheek, right neck, left check, left neck, center of neck up to chin. Chin. Upper lip. Repeat everything in exactly the same order no matter how many passes I do. The only thing that changes is from which direction I am attacking the grain.

I should have read more carefully.
