Aqua Velva TV Commercial?!

Watching the Steelers vs. Bills preseason game when I was surprised by an Aqua Velva commercial! I wasn't really paying attention so I missed most of it. I don't think I've ever seen a TV ad for AV before.

Seems like only yesterday that Pete Rose was flogging the stuff.

What I really miss are those English Leather and British Sterling commercials.

AV commercials have been on as long as I can remember. The newest one has the father tossing a glass bottle of it to his clone like looking son, who does a one hand catch on it.

>I've been watching AV ads all my life!

I must be living under a rock! I remember Skin Bracer, Old Spice, Afta, Williams Lectric Shave and English Leather commercials, but not AV.

Yup, this is the one I saw.

OK, what was the product being advertised here? I can't remember.

Scene: Genghis Khan looking at camera (with a subtitle saying "Genghis Khan - barbarian")

"I used to shave like a barbarian! Hacking and cutting my face!..."
<this is done in a comic sort of Russian accent>

This was on maybe 1970 or so as I remember it.

I remember Pete Rose shilling for AV in the early '70s. With a face like that, it's a miracle they ever sold any of the stuff at all....

I remember this, too, but I can't recall whose commercial it was.

I've seen the new one referenced here maybe 3-4 times (including yesterday). I even started a thread on it in Aftershaves. Some great replies, including 6 classic ads embedded by buster, and one (my favorite too!) embedded by HoratioCaine.

The classic old ones, I remember seeing lots, mostly 60's /70's I think (though I'd forgotten about The Lone Ranger and Tonto) Not so much 80's/90's.
