Aqua Velva and the Big Blue Mess?

Hi all, new to the forum. Just recently started started to take my shaving seriously, which includes my first real foray into slapping on some aftershave after my morning routine. I bought myself a bottle of Aqua Velva at the drugstore, but is there some trick to dispensing it that I'm not aware of? I usually try to just splash some into my hands and then on to my face, but half of it seems to pour down the side of the bottle and all over my sink...

Does this happen to anyone else? Does it help to transfer to a different bottle?

Easy solution. Put your finger over the opening, then invert over your hand. Move your finger until the right amount dispenses, then re-cover the opening, and turn it back over. You should have no spillage.

Me too. Doesn't hurt anything, and may help sanitize the sink!! lol.

Although I have found this issue is a little less problematic with an older style bottle, mine is from the mid-80s.

I see this question a lot and can't understand why guys can't get this.

The problem is you can't pour like you're filling a glass, because of the small opening on the bottle;



You have to cup your left hand, and holding the bottle in your right hand, place the neck of the bottle directly against your hand.

Tip the bottle, maintaining contact between the bottle and your hand.

Pour as much as you like, and tip the bottle back upright - all the while, maintaining contact between your hand and the bottle.

When the bottle is upright again, pull the bottle downwards a little, and you use the side of your hand to "squeegee" the little that remains on the bottle.



Put the bottle down, splash your handful on however you like, and when you're done, recap the bottle.

Yep, I spill AV every time I use it... The old "finger over the opening" trick works well.

The reducer on the small glass 4711 AS bottle is perfect for me, so that is where my AV lives.
