Aqua di Parma & Creed Original Vetiver

Do you guys consider AdP & Creed Original Vetiver strictly spring/summer scents or year-round scents? I've always been under the impression that they were strictly spring/summer because of their floral characteristics and looked at spicier scents (Canali or Bulgari Black) for fall/winter.

I've not tried the Creed , but to me AdP is a fine "year-round" scent. I've always felt that what a wearer likes is FAR more important than rules!

I've never smelled the creed either, however I believe that AdP is a fine year rounder. Having said that I'm toying with the idea of keeping the AdP colonia as spring/summer and picking up a bottle of the spicier AdP Colonia Intensa for the cooler months...just a thought.

I have worn them both year around. Then again, I don't follow the general conventions of when to wear them.

I also drink red wine with chicken. Wear what you like, when you feel like it.

On a more serious note, I think AdP has enough of a floral underpinning (Bulgarian rose, I believe) to be able to be worn year round. It's the ultra-light citrus (e.g., 4711, Trumper Lime, T&H Lime, etc.) that really are more summery and might seem a bit out of place in the cooler months. Florals have enough weight to transcend that limitation, imo. Having said that, I still believe in my first statement above. As for the Creed, I have smelled it, but I don't really remember it well; I seem to recall I didn't like it much, and moved on.

I also drink light red, Pinot Noir, with chicken but that's because there are very few whites that I like that are not too sweet. If I drink a white, its usually Savonne Blanc or Viognier (sp?). I did find one Chardonnay from Mexico that I thought was really increadible called Casa Madero. Yes, Mexico of all places.

I understand what your saying and there's no hard and fast rule except for the ultra-light citrus that you mention. I tend to wear more spicy/peppery and woody/moss scents during the winter (October - February) and citrus/floral during the warmer months.

When I smelled Creed Original Vetiver on a stick it was terrible but after I had it on for an hour, it calmed down and was really nice and clean. The wife compares all the vetivers that I sample to the Creed. She's not a fan of Guerlain Vetiver because of the sweetness and I would have to agree.

I don't really do winter/summer scents. If I like it, I wear it when I want to wear it. But there are some, such as Knize Ten and Czech & Speake 88, which really don't work too well on hot, humid days. Acqua di Parma is always a good choice.

I am not a big fan of Creed Vetiver. In fact, I really hated it. I am very pleased with Guerlain's Vetiver and will try some of of the lighter fragrances in this class.

I didn't like it at first but once I wore it for about an hour, it settled down nicely. Very clean and fresh. All edts act differently on each person because of body chemistry.

You haven't found the C&S to work on those hot, humid days? Well, we don't have too much humidity here in the AZ but the hot?--we have plenty of that. I really like the 88 right now. I really like it pretty much anytime but I think if the right amount is used, and with my chemistry, it works pretty well.

Also, you have a hell of a selection of straights, my good man. Very nice setup you're working with. Your scents are also spot-on. I applaud you and your taste. :thumbup1:

Personally and currently I consider Aqua di Parma an all-year-around scent. But I do live in a tropical environment and might change my mind if I move back to a "normal" place with 4 seasons and a cold winter..

Because of the rose and lavender, both of which hold up and stay fresh/strong in cold weather, Colonia can work in colder temps. I'm not a big fan of the lavender, but I do like the citrus and rose.

Original Vetiver has enough spicy and woody notes to project in cold weather also. Plus it's green leafy heart note lasts well in any weather, for such a refreshing cologne.
