Applying balm over Tend Skin?

Hey everyone. For almost 10 years now, I've had to use Tend Skin (homemade) after shaving in order to prevent irritation. The skin on my neck is very sensitive, and when I discovered Tend Skin it basically made everything perfect.

However, the drawback is that it does leave my skin a little dry. I was wondering if any of you use Tend Skin followed by an aftershave balm such as Nivea or Proraso? After letting the Tend Skin dry, would applying a balm dilute it or make it less effective?

Thanks

"Sensitive" skin is skin that reacts relatively negatively to various chemical irritants. I'm like that.

I have found the best approach is to wash my face with glycerin-based soap only once a day before shaving, use a high quality shaving soap, use Alum followed by Witch Hazel post-shave, and finish with a high quality aftershave like Old Spice, Floid, or Clubman.

I avoid all balms and creams like the plague, and have turned a dryness/redness problem around completely.

Ultimately you need to try a few approaches but if you find Tend Skin is drying you might to stop using it.

I do it all the time.

Treat problems with tend skin, then let it dry. Clean my brush, put away my gear and then ... slap on a balm to moisturize and seal.

Thanks. I started applying balm about 15 minutes after Tend Skin, and my skin feels better than ever. I appear to get slightly better results with Nivea Sensitive than with Proraso's white balm, but I'm not quite positive on that yet.

I went from AOS balm which I noticed was stinging my face to the Nivea sensitive balm and the stinging went away and my face feels and looks better
