AoS Rose, anybody?

Has anybody tried the AoS Rose? It's unfortunately marketed towards women, and I couldn't find much mention of it here, but I noticed the following ingredients listed on Beauty.com...

Aqua (Water), Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Coconut Acid, Aroma (Natural), Sodium Hydroxide, Methylisothiazolinone, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil (Rose Absolute and Rose)

If that's not lying, it appears to be scented with...Rose EO? :w00t: I'd thought SCS and SRD were the only Rose-EO scented shave products.

Sadly, of course, they don't make their tallow-based soap in rose. :mad3:

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the AoS Rose shaving cream if I was interested in the rose scent. I've had GFT Rose, and didn't consider it a woman's shaving cream, and don't know why AoS would be?

The AoS rose I was mainly concerned about because it's relatively expensive ($26/100g) and I hadn't used an AoS cream before, so I'd been a bit nervous about ordering it sight-unseen. It also seemed odd that nobody would've mentioned it before, since, from the ingredients, it appears to be a good cream scented (at least partially) with rose EO. I guess that has to do with the marketing. I've got tubs TOBS & QCS rose, and samples of Salter and GFT, so I've already drunk the rose cool-aid.

Oh, and as for why the AoS would be a women's cream, well...

They don't even put it with their other shave creams...it's in its own pink part of the site labeled "for women". It doesn't appear to differ ingredient-wise from their other shaving creams (or, really, Creighton creams), so I'm guessing the whole "this is specially formulated for women" is more marketing hooey.

I did end up making the plunge (20% off sale + free shipping on beauty.com, so why not ), and I'll definitely be posting a review when I get it.

I think Salter's Wild Rose has EO in it... not positive though. It smells fantastic and it's less expensive than AoS. Also comes in a "manly" navy blue tub:tongue_sm

I own AOS rose cream (peeled the label off so it would be more manly, lol!).

In terms of efficacy, it's spectacular...but hey, it's AOS right? The scent, however, really let me down. I like my rose scents to be strong. And the AOS rose scent is very, very week. It is a pure rose scent, with nothing else added, but you can barely smell it when lathered...what's the point?

Hands down, the best rose scented soap or cream I own is SCS Bulgarian Rose (with pure EO). I love the scent and it is much stronger than AOS. At the other end, Trumpers scent is VERY strong, but a bit too powdery for my tastes.

I just ordered Salter's Wild Rose. It's in the mail. I CAN'T WAIT to try it!

I love it. PM me your address and I'll send you a sample. Boy, do I wish they made their soap in that scent.

You could write a book of the memos AoS has missed:glare:

Though they'll never be 100% clueless as long as their soap is tallow-based. Once they reformulate that, the Shaveocalypse is upon us! The twin demons of Proctor and Gamble, purged of all good shaving equipment, will arise and lead an army of cartridges, and we will do battle against the zombie of King Camp Gillette! :scared:

Or maybe we'll just find another soap.

I have the AOS Rose cream and think it is great! Though I definitely prefer their soaps for performance, I love the scent of this cream.

AOS creams are top notch and if you like rose scents you will like this. Just wish they made a soap in this scent.

The cream is less dense than their others, but the performance is the same.

And one more time- I wish they made a rose soap.

I got some AOS Lavender as a gift from my wife, and WOW! That is some high performance shaving cream! It is the easiest lathering, best protecting product that I have yet to use, and you only need such a tiny amount!

For a lover of rose scent, I was very impressed with a sample of Klar Kabinet soap that was included (free) with a purchace from BullGoose. It is the best performing hard soap that I have used so far, and it has quite a pronounced rose scent. It's cheap too! If it was sandalwood scented it would be my daily go-to soap.

I had some shaving goodies waiting at my door when I got home today -- wow, this rose smells good! :w00t: It is, indeed, somewhat light, but it seems to have good staying power -- I rubbed a smidge between my fingers when I first opened it to test the consistency, and the scent's still lingering fifteen or twenty minutes later!

I'll lather & shave with this tonight or tomorrow morning (depending on when I decide to shave), but I'm really looking forward to it. I've gotta say, the packaging is even more emasculating in person (especially with the instructions on shaving the "bikini area"). I'll post a review of it soon.

ED: An hour later, the faintest hint of rose is still lingering. Certainly not a replacement for a cologne, but impressive for a cream.

My daughter has officially stolen my AoS rose, and an old Burma Shave brush.

It was nice while I had it.

What's the best place to buy Aos rose shaving cream from?

AoS.:tongue_sm

No, seriously, AoS products are rarely discounted or on sale anywhere. The best bet is to get on their mailing list so you''ll be alerted when the very infrequent sales happen.

In addition to the AoS stores, you can find AoS in some department stores, like Nordstrom's, but like Chris says, the best deals are probably in AoS. I've not seen it on sale anywhere else.
