AOS has been giving away a lot of samples of their new pre-shave gel lately. I probably have enough samples to last me several months, at least in Lavender scent. This morning I tried it for the first time. Since it's PRE-SHAVE gel, I decided to substitute the application of proto-lather for using the pre-shave gel. So this morning my prep went like this: shower, rub glycerin soap into my beard, pre-shave gel, lather, shave.
And I have to say, the stuff worked really, really well. A part of me was concerned that it might mess up my brush, but it absorbed into my beard and worked like a charm. I only did a two-pass, since I save a three-pass for the weekends, my shave this morning was a lot closer and a bit more comfortable than it usually is. I would say that on the comfort and closeness scale it ranked somewhere between BBS and CCS.
I could certainly see adding this to my Shavecave.
