Anyone tried "Gentleman Refinery" Products?

A bit pricey so i wanted to ask around first for feedback. What have you guys tried and what do you think of their merchandise?

I have the TGR Unscented ASB and it is phenomenal! Unfortunately, so is the price

While it is pricey, it is important to note that shipping is built into the price.....so it's not quite as expensive as it may seem...

I use their full line every day (pre shave oil, cream, asb, and moisturizer) and I like it so much that I've gotten rid of almost all my other stuff. Nothing is as easy on my face.

Very very good stuff, I have used both the scented and unscented balm. However... having said I like the product, I cannot stand the pump bottle it comes in. The balm explodes out of the odd little pump and sprays all over the place, no matter how hard I try to prevent it. I find the packaging a little too precious and is way over the top. If it came in a more reasonable package (e.g., at the price point they're charging it could surely come in a glass bottle, like the Weleda balm -- which has the same consistency), I would run out and buy more. But I do really find the bottle annoying.

I have only used their products as samples (send them and e-mail and ask; they sent me generous samples of all their shaving stuff), so I don't have long term experience. But I can say their products were very nice and performed well (I still have some of their ASB which I use occasionally). I was very surprised that I liked their Black Ice SC - I usually don't like anise scented or flavored products. I wasn't keen on their pre-shave oil, but I don't like anyone's pre-shave oil.

Edit: I see that they now charge $8 for their sample pack. Still a pretty good deal for what you get. It will allow you to determine if it's right for you.

Yeah, count me in the really hates that AS balm dispenser bottle brigade.

While perhaps their reason is to keep the product airtight, I'd rather have air involved...there's nothing u can do to stop it from exploding out of there, and I make a little cavern with my palm but still watch precious, expensive product hit the floor. Too annoying to ever buy again; there's a lot of lovely AS balms out there (though this one is indeed great).

thanks for the feedback fellas. i just had to re-assure that my $ won't be going to waste....seems like the ASB is top notch

You're money will definitely not be going to waste......and I've never had a problem with the squirt bottle, as some of the others have mentioned. I think it helps to place your hand close to it, and squeeze a little slower, while making kind of a "cup" to catch the liquid.

Keep in mind that two squirts is probably more than enough for the entire shaved area, and I sometimes get away with just one....though I follow up with a moisturizer.

I have tried every way to "cup" my hand, keeping the nozzle inside a little cave in my hand, trying to press the pump as smoothly and lightly as possible, everything... It still just explodes all over the place. Too annoying.
