I'm looking for a good scuttle. During my search, I found the G4 scuttle and ended up at the Georgetown Pottery website. While there, I found that they have a new version of their scuttle called the G5. It looks promising. I don't really know if I want to pay $56 for a new scuttle, but I'm looking at the G5 and the Moss. Don't know of the names of the other scuttles out there. I've started lathering in the bowl and I like the feel of warm lather which is why I am looking for one of these.
Anyone seen the G5?

I've seen pics of the G5 and would love to try one. I have the G4 and won't use anything else - I absolutely love it! Well worth the money IMHO! Based on what I know of the G4 and the positive feedback about Georgetown that I have always heard, I doubt that you'd be disappointed!
I have a G5--the only scuttle I ever owned--and I really like it. The people a georgetown are very nice to deal with.
There are a few threads recently discussing the new G5. The general consensus is that people like it.
I have a G5 and a large Moss and I have a 1.5x Dirty Bird on order. Of the G5 and the Moss, I like them both but prefer the Moss. My primary reason for using a scuttle is to keep the lather warm, and the Moss does that better than the G5 (I actually did a temp test, and the Moss keeps water temps about 20 degrees hotter than the G5).
I find it a bit easier to whip up lather in the G5 due to the shape of the bowl, but it isn't significantly better than the Moss. The G5 does have a nicer finish and look than the Moss, in my opinion.
Bottom line, I don't think you can go wrong with either. But if you are looking for warm lather, the Moss does that better. I believe the Dirty Bird 1.5x is going to be even better at keeping lather warm because of it's larger size, but that remains to be seen by me at least.
They are all about the same price, but the shipping charges on the Moss are pretty high to the US.

I'm really interested to find out your thoughts on the 1.5 Dirty Bird. I bet you're still going to prefer the Moss, but I obviously don't know for sure.
I'm pretty interested to test it out as well. I think I'm still a couple weeks out before it arrives.
I'm still waiting for my G5 to arrive. I ordered it after Georgetown's date for early delivery. Mine won't go out until after Jan.1st. That's O.K. with me however, I have the G4 and I really like it.
Just a note. When I ordered my G5, Georgetown was having a special for that weekend only, and they were offering free shipping on the G5. That's when I ordered mine. When I ordered I was told that the free shipping was an error, that that offer wasn't supposed to be there. But since it was posted on the internet they would honor it. That saved shipping of $11.00, and right away I posted about this deal, and advised members that they would probably take that offer down pretty quick. I hope some of our members saw that post and if they were thinking about the G5, they got in on it.

I'm waiting for the one ordered as my Christmas present by my wife.
My MIL had one hand made in Bellingham by a potter up there. It's very similar to a DB 1.5. I used it for the first time yesterday and love it. I'm not sure you could go wrong with any scuttle.
I love mine - got it as a gift this year and being able to put a rubber stopper in to preserve heat and to avoid spillage is nice... I love the hamada and blue that my lovely Wife picked out.
I have found that the water cools down unless it's SUPER FIRE hot. I also submerge the whole thing in hot water in the sink, while showering so that the scuttle itself doesn't rob any heat.
I'm thinking of grabbing the toothbrush holder in the same color combo, for my razors (if the holes are big enough)

I have the G5 on my sink, and the G4 at the trailer, our weekender. They are both very beautiful and functionally different. Read my reviews on the other G5 threads.
