What's new

Anyone ever try a Kent VS30?

It's pictured here. I just never see anyone discuss Kent's boar brushes, so I thought I'd see if anyone owns this and get some feedback about it. It's listed as having a 48mm loft, which seems unusually short to me for a boar brush.

Some "looking for a cheap brush" threads have also popped up recently, and I thought this could be a suitable starter brush (or an addition to the collection for some boar brush fans).

That's what I thought. That's why I'm surprised I've never heard mention of these until I ran across one online recently.

I don't know that I'll buy one, but this could possibly be a firm brush, which I like. It's difficult to tell from the photo, but it also looks fairly densely packed.

The best boar brush I've ever tried was a Boreal 976, but it's too big for my liking. I need to think about selling it at some point.

I have enough brushes to get through the next decade or two..All are equal to or better than the VS30..So there's really no room in the den..If reviews are favorable, it could become a PIF in stater kits for friends and family....

I can't speak for the model VS30. My dad had a VS70 (at least the box says so; it's a plastic handle, though). I find it a bit scrawny. The tips never split, even after years of use. They look clipped to me. I would not buy one of these.

I have used a Kent VS30. IMO, it is an excellent boar brush at a good price point. It is similar in size to some of the smaller Omegas. The knot is nicely packed but with easy flow through for lather. I have had no problems with loss of bristles. I primarily use it as a travel brush as it dries quickly and fits nicely in a large pill bottle. I would certainly buy one again if I ever needed another boar brush.

Thanks Chris. Do the tips on your brush appear to be trimmed, or have they split as expected?
