I've never used an electric. Given the microscope pictures of cut hairs, electric shaving looks like your skin needs to "adjust" to the torture indeed lol
Why would you want to switch between those very different methods?
(even my ear and nose hair trimmer is mechanical)
I just got one as a gift and its Senso Touch 3D. So I wanted to try one for few days
I must confess, I too use a Panasonic as an alternate, and I don't feel sorry for any mutilated hairs (I don't let anyone near enough to use a microscope on my face) - it works and it's quick and I've never experienced nicks, cuts, weepers, or razor burn from it. I also enjoy wet shaving (which by the way the Panasonic will also do) with DE's and Schick injectors. As a younger man I used a straight razor and probably will return to that someday - and I suspect many straight razor shavers wonder why everyone doesn't shave like they do. Mea Culpa, ban me if you must.I have a very nice Panasonic electric shaver that I still use. It's great on the back of my neck and a lot quicker than DE shaving. I definitely prefer the experience with a DE, but I'm not throwing this $200 tool out either.
Yeah, the cutters in an electric need replacing from time to time, which costs $$$ and on a foil shaver the screens need changing too at times.... not for me I declare. But don't the mowing blades in an electric razor go blunt very soon? Or do you replace them from time to time?
Something is seriously wrong there! I would recommend a shower before shaving, or a pre wash with a good soap. A sharp blade should not pull at decently prepped hairs.I cannot at this early stage (of almost a month) 1st pass shave the upper & lower lip, upper & lower chin without massive pulling & hacking with DE.

Hi johant1968,
Not to highjack this thread but my prep is wash face with a skin ph neutral soap, rinse really well & leave face wet. Prepare lather, depending on how long make sure face stays wet. Wet face again before lathering up. Shave cheeks & neck area 1st pass. Reapply lather to problem area's as getting dryer their, have at it. Pulling & hacking compared to all other areas.
