The size 3 Rooneys seem to be AWFUL big. I have a 1/2 and that one seems a little on the big side. I can't imagine using a 3. Does anybody use one? Just curious what your thoughts are.
I have a size 3 Heritage Stubby three band. It has a big knot, and an even bigger bloom. The knot diameter is 6mm less than my Chubby 3, but the bloom is almost as big. The handle does not feel much bigger than the handle of my 1/2 or Stubby 2, but the bloom is again notably bigger. I like the size of it, but I gravitate to bigger brushes. Rational I know my size 3 is big on a ridiculous scale, but I look for that in a brush.
I had a 1/3 super a few years back, probably ~26mm. I prefer 20-24 mm brushes these days and sold my big ones. Basically a big floppy mop, very luxurious, very messy lathering.
3 years ago I owned a 3/3 Rooney. BIG brush! My only Rooney I ever owned and it was sold by me. I love big brushes but it didn't float my boat.... I prefer Simpson, Plisson, Vulfix, & Kent brushes. Good luck on your decision.
my 3/2 is plenty big for my bowl lathering. I cannot imagine how big a 3/3 would be. It would be so big that it wouldn't fit in my RB Scuttle i imagine.
I picked up a TH 1/3 in ivory last month.
Already had a 1/2 and love it now that it's broken in.
always been curious about a 26mm and for w/the bb10 discount - hey, why not?
Impressions after a short time:
1. nicely dense but still floppier than I was expecting, given the performance of the 1/2.
-I think it's probably because the loft is proportionately higher. definitely not 2 band territory.
2. works very well on any lather producing substance. nuf said.
3. be prepared to use product. this is a LARGE brush.
- The amount of substance used to create that nice froth on a smaller brush will just be lost into the knot.
- grab fearless amounts of soap/creme
4. overall? BIG - luxurious - a treat. Not truly necessary but so what?
