What's new

Anybody else use a DE but also uses CANNED SHAVING CREAM/GEL?

I have used soaps, with the bowl and the brush, but it takes up too much space. I just use my DE razor with Edge,Nivea,Gillette shaving can and get a great shave. Anybody else still use the dreaded "canned goo"??

I'd be the other way around. The soaps and brush are the last thing that would go. I could almost see shaving with disposables, but not using the goo.

No. I would go back to carts before I would give up my soap and brush. I've never heard of someone giving up because of space issues. You can face lather and a brush is smaller than a can of goo. To each his own though. :)

Barbasol is just fine for me but it's been a long time since I used it except for a superlather or two. I think the ingredients with popular cream tubes and canned are pretty similar if I recall.

I always got along fine with canned goo. I enjoy brushes and soaps/creams, but I still use Barbasol frequently. In fact, since I started growing my winter beard, I'm using it almost exclusively. For the amount of shaving I can still do, it isn't worth the effort to use anything else.

I learned to use a DE with canned foam and gel because that's what I had at home at the time. I've had better results with brushless creams, but still use canned goo when I travel.

Yes, only when I travel. I get the little travel can of goo because its easier. I still use the Gillette Travel Tech though. Otherwise, I use Proraso cream.

Nope, I dont like the feel of it now, always ended up with dry skin too, I also like my shaving stuff taking up more room but I dont think my mrs does.

Barbasol if I am in a hurry or afterwards find a rough spot. (It may take 30 or more minutes after the shave for me to feel these rough areas, and I am using aggressive razors and sharp blades; I haven't seen anyone else on B&B report this experience.)

some canned goop used a few weeks ago.
the AOS Rose is actually a canned version of their lathering cream.
The SMN foam was a remarkable tobacco scented, buttery, luxury foam.
The English Leather travel foam was, well, travel foam.

Use whatever works for you,. But you don't need a lot of space to forgo the canned goo. One brush and a good cream/soap/croap---and face lather. No bowl needed.

I'd give up the DE before I have up using a brush and quality lather. But as we all know, YMMV.
