any shaving soap with birch scent?

Does anybody make a shaving soap (or even a cream or aftershave) that is based on a birch scent?

When I was in Finland I found birch-scented shampoo, and very much enjoyed it. It would bring back some good memories if I could find a shaving soap that was similar!

Mama Bear's has a Canadian Spruce, is that close enough?

I have no idea what birch scent is like.

Birch EO is available. Maybe send an email to MB and see if she can make a small batch? Be warned though, the descriptions of it warn that it must be used sparingly as it can irritate skin.

I don't know birch scent. I've had birch beer which is related root beer. Is the birch scent similar to root beer? Or maybe Mama Bear can make a B&B root beer shave soap.

Ah, the fresh scent of Birch!
I have a few in my backyard, the smell in the spring when the leaves break out is just so fresh!

I can see why you want a soap smelling like it!

No, root beer doesn't smell like birch at all.

Sitting in my bathroom right now. Hesitant to try it as I fear I will be disappointed by any soap bar that markets itself for both bath and shaving use. Ah well, if it doesn't lather well I will just use in the shower.

I am familiar with that feeling. If it wasn't made specifically for shaving, you can usually count on a less-than-stellar experience.

If you get the chance, though, I'd love to hear any feedback. I love woods scents and am always looking for a better one.

It is more commonly used in Scandanavian products I believe. This is going back to the 80's, but I used a cologne then called Kanon, which I thought had a birch EO, but a website check reveals cedarwood, no birch. Still liked the Kanon though.

If you've ever been in a sauna in the true Swedish style, birch boughs are used to gently beat against the skin as one sweats, which invigorates the skin and releases the scent of birch in the air. Lovely stuff.

Amen!

The ultimate is an old-school sauna, with a big fire-place inside, where birch wood is used

The closest thing I could find is a soap made by Fitjar. The scent is called "Telemark" & it's down near the bottom of the page.

You might want to email Jorunn (the owner & artiste de savon) & ask her about birch. Maybe she'll cook up a li'l sumpin special for ya.

Good luck!

EDIT: Speaking from personal experience, Fitjar makes very good soaps. Haven't tried her tallow soaps yet, tho.
