Any Fans of the Lord Platinum Out There?

Three years ago I tried the Lord Platinum and liked them. I then went on to try 27 other blades in search of "the holy grail" of blades, which I never found. I recently tried the Lord Platinum again and have been getting great results. It is definitely on my top 3 list. I've never read much about these in the forums. Is anyone else out there getting great results from this blade?

I will be trying out a Lord Stainless Steel tomorrow... I believe I have a few of the Lord Super Chromes to try as well, but no Platinums.

I have used a bunch of them, probably 30 in all. I didn't like them. They are pretty sharp, but not very smooth for me. Some people love them. For my money, for a cheap blade, I would rather use Astra SP.

I usually use SE but when I used my DE and finished off some Derby's and went to an LP I found it a much better blade.

A few years ago I tried Lord Super Stainless and was very excited. Than I found an offer - 100 Lord Platinum for 8€ - and I thought when Super Stainless are good, Platinum must be better. Big mistake! The first blade I used was total blunt. But really blunt! You could take it in the hand and didn't cut yourself. That was my first experience with Lord Platinum. And it didn't became better. By now I used 8 blades and the shaves were never good. Up to the first blade you could shave but the blades are not as sharp and smooth as the Super Stainless. I´ve given away a few of them but still have 80 blades. Not even my brother, who started DE shaving, wants these blades.

I tried and like a lot of blades by Lord. Though I prefer some of their Super Stainless blades (Extra and Super) I also use the Platinums from time to time. I found them to be very razor dependant; in mild razors they don't work for me at all; rough and only good for two shaves. In aggressive razors however (Fatip, R41) they change totally; good for 4 great and smooth shaves.

I use the Lord Platinums from time to time, usually with a NEW or NEW Deluxe. For me they last only two or three shaves, and do not seem to benefit from jeans-stropping. So they are not as good of a value as Astras, and not as good of a blade as the more expensive Russian Gillettes. But they serve their purpose.

It seems I'm one of the few who love this blade. I tried a ton of blades and had one of these at the bottom of a sample pack. I was in no hurry to try it but I sure am glad I did. I had been using Astra SPs before but after trying the LP I went out and bought a 100 pack. I'm truly glad I did, it's all I use now.

Well, it seems the result is depending from the razor. The bad experience I had with my Futur. Last week I tried a Lord Platinum with my Adjustable Slim and had four very good shaves. Today I tried the blade in my Slim Twist and it was awful. Tomorrow I try it with my Ibsen Slant Bar.

I really like Lord Plats. Prob my choice of razors that makes them good. They are very similar to IP Reds IMO, but lack the higher level of smoothness Reds possess. For these blades that last 3 shaves I like to use one edge for the entire first shave, then the second edge for the entire second shave. 3rd shave I'll use both sides. I think these blades are good enough to stay in my rotation.
