Antique Store Score

Found this at an antique store this morning. From what I'm reading on the ShaveWiki, it's a 1969 Q4 (O-4) Black Handle Super Speed. Condition appears to be good, not shiny, some scratches from use on the head, but overall, no issues. The silo doors open and close nicely. Price was $5.50, which didn't seem bad.

That is very clean for out of the wild condition.

Scrubbing bubbles and a soft tooth brush will make it look like new again.

Let the bubbles sit on it for a few minutes that start with your soft toothbrush

You will be amazed at how nice it comes out since most of what I see is just old shaving lather film

Thanks turtle! I'll give that a shot!

Most folks report good results using a Feather blade in the Black handled Super Speeds, Congrats on your find.

I'm glad someone else had a good day too. I scored a Gillette Sheraton in box and a Pal Adjustable Injector for $15!

I saw some sort of Injector in the case at the first antique shop we stopped at, but the place was such a dive that I was afraid asking her to take it out of the case might throw off the balance of the building and cause it to collapse. It looked pretty rough anyway, so I don't think I was missing much.

Will do! I was wondering what the best blade choice would be. I normally use Feathers in my DE89, so I'll put one in this as well.

Nice score. One of those was one of my earliest purchases. It's actually how I discovered I had RAD. I wasn't the slightest bit interested in the Black Handle, until I had one in front of me. "Well, that's not so bad. Actually looks kinda nice. And it's cheap. I have to get it!"

Nice score. Congrats.

I would avoid using scrubbing bubbles on the Black Handle and, Just soak it in hot Soapy Water for 20 Mins then scrub with a tooth brush, Then Repeat Soapy Water Treatment. This removes most of the gunk. If its not shiny enough for you,Then spray scrubbing bubbles on the metal area of razor "Only", Let sit for 2 Min's scrub with a soft tooth brush and repeat it needed. That should bring it back to life.
