Another Thumbs up for Aqua Velva Musk

I use YSL L'Homme ASB and cologne which is my favorite(and many compliments from the ladies), but is a little expensive for everyday. Went to Bartell Drug looking for a good cheap aftershave to use without worrying about the $$. My wife smelled all and the only one she liked was the AV musk. Since I've used maybe 6 times and I love it! Great masculine scent and a very good toner. A real steal for $4.

I like it too, but find it more of a cologne than an aftershave. It seemed to be a more effective toner for me when I mixed some with witch hazel (2 parts AV to 1 part witch hazel). YMMV.

i'd never used the musk scent before and the first time i used it it though it smelt like BO. but then after it a while it kind of settled down. still not as good as the original though.

Agreed! Love the stuff. Had put it away from a while but recently came back to it. My GF likes it as well. Used it this past Saturday in fact!!

I hate AV Musk. If Mandom is the best of the 70s, then Musk is the worst of the 70s. It smells sleazy and gives me a headache. Mandom smells like a man catching fish with his bare hands, Musk smells like dirty, shag carpet sweat.

...though it seems like it is almost unanimously praised on the board. I love AV Ice Blue, among other cheap scents.

i think jovan musk is the worst of the 70's--sickening sweet.av musk is much less sweet.barbasol is a good one.in fact barbasol is the musk that got me over the aversion that was caused by jovan.

that's the problem with musk. its basically supposed to smell sweaty/manly or whatever. which is kind of gross if you think about it.

After seeing this thread for a couple days, I picked this up at Giant Eagle tonight (on sale for $3.39 ). Smells great in the bottle, wife liked it and can't wait to try it tomorrow after my shave.

I'm delighted to have been able to try many of the interesting aftershaves that I've found on B&B. And yet, truth be told, I could live quite well with just two. One could do much worse than to use Aqua Velva in the warmer months and AV Musk once it gets cold.

Tried the AV Musk for the first time yesterday and I loved it! Great stuff, good smell and cheap! Whats not to like! Definetly two thumbs up for me! Also good to know that people are using it here.

SWMBO likes AV Musk and, unless I'm unclear on the concept, isn't it what they like in a scent that is most important? There are hidden messages in the scent that appeals to them that we may not appreciate. That's why we wear the stuff. I don't want a scent that attracts men! Just my 2 cents.

I cut mine with some witch hazel to tone it down somewhat, and this morning my AS was a home-made blend of AV Musk, Thayer's Rose WH, Glycerin and alcohol - a poor-man's Czech and Speake No.88.

It was actually a pretty damn fine AS, on topof the Trumper's Rose shave soap.
