What's new

Another D.R. Harris Arlington thread? Why not?

I've been a member here for almost five years, and have been wetshaving off and on for a bit longer than that, but for whatever reason had never tried Arlington soap until this week. (I've used the cologne, which I liked, and the shaving cream, which I didn't.) Well, two shaves into it, I am happy to report that - - - - - - -it's GOOD! Granted it's still early, but so far I prefer it to Harris Marlborough, Lavender, or Almond.

Just thought I'd share.

I agree. I don't care for Marlborough as much as I thought I would. Never tried Lavender or Almond. I have a "wet nap" sample of Windsor straight from D.R. Harris when it came out last year, and I would like to get the Windsor line someday. I think Arlington will always be my favorite D.R. Harris scent. The soap is very high on my list of shave soaps.

I have not tried any of their other flavors. Arlington is top notch and a favorite in the den. I have 3 hard pucks so that should last me a while. My cream hardened up some and now has the consistency of a soft soap. I'm loving that too.

Grabbed a shave stick of this a couple weeks back as my first foray into the land of DRH and have been really, really satisfied with it. It's a great, refreshing scent and lathers up really well, especially out of the stick.

Oh dear, I started with the Arlington and have some different ones in stock. I tried the wrong way round according to your post :crying:

Arlington is the only thing from DR Harris I've tried so far. Seems like a very, very nice soap, but I think the smell is just ok. I'm rotating between MWF, TOBS Shaving Shop cream and TBS Maca Root and I prefer the smell of any of those over Arlington.

Now half as wise

Just FWIW, the same thing happened to mine. If you put just a litle water on top and let it sit overnight, it will rehydrate and again become more cream consistency. I ended up doint this about 3 times to get it to where I wanted.

I kept my Arlington in a hand carved and figured translucent alabaster dish. That should give you an idea of what I think of Arlington

I really like the Arlington. Lately I've been enjoying lighter scented soaps as opposed to the heavier ones like the bay rums, earthy, woodsy etc. scents. I like those but I think maybe as the weather warms I'm choosing the lighter ones.

If you like Arlington you might enjoy Mike's Barbershop as well. I can't put my finger on exactly why but I've been reaching for those two a lot lately.

i have lavender and trying windsor or arlington next. It's halfway done after a year in a 3 soap rotation. scent is now subtle but nice, lather is superb.

So, I just picked up a refill puck of Arlington. Wow. Very nice. Excellent scent, great lather. Looking forward to using it some more. Has earned a spot in my regular rotation!

For those of you who prefer Arlington over other DR Harris soaps, is this mainly a preference for the scent or do you see better performance?
