Another convert...

So the conversation of the price of blade cartridges came up with my friend (who is also my boss) last week, and at the end of it I jumped online and ordered him a Weishi TTO razor. He wanted something not likely to tear his face up while learning, and wanted a TTO style. The price point being as low as they are for the Weishi didn't hurt, either. I gave him a sampler of like 5 different blades (7oclock blue, personna blue and red, feather, wilkinson sword) to try along with the Dorco blades it comes with. I also PIF'd him a spare boar brush I had that was never used, I'd only gone through the wash and lather, let it sit break in process on it. He isn't the type to really get into the hobby, he's just approaching it from the utilitarian aspect of "it has to be done, why spend more than needed to do it effectively", but he definitely seems to be a convert at this point from the pure money aspect. :)

Are there lots of other convert stories out there?

Welcome! Price of cartridges and uncomfortable shaves are two of the most common reasons people come to DE shaving.

Welcome to B&B! I think many of us like to share the tales of souls we have saved from the cartridge razor industrial complex. Many of us have friends, relatives and co-workers who have expressed interest in our style of shaving and we've talked them through getting the gear or PIF'd them what they need to get started. Some of our attempts to convert people take, others don't. That's just the way it is.

I have a college buddy that has given up on his electric razor after 30 years of unsatisfactory shaves. He shaved with carts for less than a year before deciding the costs of carts was excessive. I think he, like your friend, is going to be a utility shaver doing what needs done for the lowest price. I'm thinking I can talk his wife into getting him some higher end soaps and such.
