What's new

Amazing April

So March is almost over, and man what a month it was. The Nib wiki became a great source of information, the monthly discussions got off to a good start, the acquisition thread is way up there again, a new LE pen for us nuts, lots of new members, lots of great reviews

So with all that stuff being so great what can we do but continue to make a great forum AMAZING, some things we have on deck

The Wiki- Is great, to make it amazing, Its time to build some in depth articles, a whole page on filling systems is in the works, but i need some help with it, anyone who is good in CAD as i havent used it in a while, or can do technical drawings please let me know I could use your skill

Also an interactive guide to starting out is in the works, Ill be opening some reference threads for information, keep an eye out for them so you can jump into some great discussions to get new guys going.

Speaking of Discussions, last month, we hit 5 pages as of right now, which is a good start, This month lets hit ten, and get a lot more people chipping in
I have some ideas, but I would love to hear from you guys on a topic you would like to see be discussed for the month, "Blue Inks", "At work Gear", maybe "paper" this time out, its all up in the air

March saw a lot of reviews, which was great, to make it amazing we need to continue with the ink (Great Work Guys), but lets see if we can get some pens, and some paper reviews out there as well !!,

Of Course, we will have the usual great fun, make new members feel welcome, and help them along the way, and acquisitions to a new level, The Warm weather up here is on its way which means the flea markets, and antique shows are going to begin.

and it wouldnt be the same nib without its great members, is there anything you guys would like to see more of, less of, brand new ?, lets hear your ideas, lets get some things going

April is just around the corner, and its going to be Amazing

with maybe a surprise or two as well !!!

lol there was a train of thought that was going a bit to fast to keep up with, was about to derail at any moment. I had to type that out as quick as I could before I lost everything, so your not far off lol

:blushing: and thank you Jason

It made so much more sense when James used the new BBC/Masterpiece Sherlock Avatar haha!

I'll try to get on some pen reviews. I have some more inks to review as well. I should quit my second job but the money is so nice... (It helped pay for my multiplying Pelikans!)

James you have been doing amazing stuff, my only regret is that I can't contribute more because of work and entertaining friends the last few weekends... but I have started my enabling with a few of them.

Its all good Justin, your always helpfull and having fun when I see you around.

Jessy, lol your mine, just saying, well if the wife lets you come out and play with me, and Sam, and anyone else

She may fight for me.... on the other hand... maybe not. :bored:

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Just a few more days of march anyone wanna chime in on what next months discussion should be ?
Maybe the pros and cons of having a well inked cat  Seriously, I think April will have a good share of ink reviews by me (they are fun)

on edit: let us not forget the official B&B ink review template contest.

Also, I would like to say that the Nib has recently experienced a rapid growth, and I am glad we have a steward who is very enthusiastic about our little nook on B&B. I have been here a year and a half, and I cannot believe the change in the level of activity we have had in the last two months. It is like people are coming out of the woodwork. This will only ensure an increase of Nib regulars, IMO. We may, one day, give that dedicated fountain pen site a run for their money.

on edit: Just a random thought about something I found out- pipe cleaners are an excellent tool for helping to clean out converters. Who'd have thunk it?

As a noob, I would've found it helpful to see a few more reviews (linked in the Wiki) on sub-$30 pens. The ones that influenced me most were the Metro review, and the Pilot 78G vs Kaweco Sport vs Lamy Safari. Maybe more shoot-outs like that? Hero vs Jinhao vs ... ? Preppy vs Varsity vs ... ?

It might be too much, but I'd also appreciate seeing a little more discussion & comparison on filling systems - pics of how to use, why folks prefer certain methods over others, which pens can be converted to other filling systems (maybe even some kind of spreadsheet...?), etc.

on edit: I've also really appreciated the handwriting thread, but wonder if just one thread is enough to track that sub-topic? I'd like to see more discussion, helps, tips, advice, options, , requests for help/feedback, progress reports, etc in that arena.

It started as a lark, but I just love my hero's now.. i wish they would get more play around here.
I do not carry them out, so cannot speak for leaks and such, but for how they write at home, they are smooth as butter..I know they are imitations but isn't that the best form of flattery :)
more heros!
I want to see a how-to conversion to catridges sticky!

a while ago we talked about writing out our posts, taking a picture and putting up on the nib breaking the server and causing more people to either hate us or get interested in fountain pens.

I like that idea although it may explode the server. Maybe we could do a specific thread where we would allow it, and only in that thread?

I like this too. Not only will we see pics of pens, but if the similar thread on FPN is a guide, we will see some amazing handwriting (not mine) and cool drawings (again, not mine).
