Alum as a pre-shave?

I read somewhere Alum can be used as a pre-shave treatment .... wondering if anyone has tried this?

Some, using electric razor, might use it to tighten the skin prior to shaving.
But to use it prior to wet shaving would be bass ackwards.

Using Alum as a pre-shave treatment for a wetshave would be like washing your car with a bucket o' sand.

You'd be in for some real razor skipping there I have no doubt.

No don't use before a wet shave as it will give a rough ride, but definately use afterwards and enjoy that lovely tingle.
