Italian Barber's SMdF shave soap is a true gem -- a wonderful scent and great lather. It's apparently made in small batches and often sells out very quickly when available. I am wondering if anyone knows of a reasonable substitute for this soap? (And yes, I know some consider this a cream...I had to put it somewhere!)

Frankly, when available, I think the SMDF is slightly better than the “real thing”. I’ve used both.
While I understand the love for saponificio versesino now and think it worth the price, I never did see it with SMN. Was not that impressed. I’d reload SMDF, but not SMN.

There probably isn’t one, I believe, there isn’t in the US unless the vendor has paid full price and stocks it as a courtesy. And if they do it could be old or an older version, as described in another thread. All the other vendors are just drop shipping I believe. SMN doesn’t discount their products, but they do have free shipping a couple of times a year, which amounts to a 10-15% discount on the shaving cream. Buy it directly from SMN. The price isn’t that bad for a generous 220ml of cream.
