Altered Beard Growth Rate

I was emergency hospitalized for double pneumonia the say after Thanksgiving. Now, almost fully recuperated, I notice that by beard growth rate is about half of what it was.

For most of 50 years, I have shaved daily. For the past couple of weeks, I can easily skip every other day.

Does that strile anyone as odd?

I don't know when Thanksgiving was, but no it does not strike me as odd, your body has taken quite a hit, and everything in your body will take longer to heal/grow etc. The important thing is that you got out of hospital and are on the mend! when you are 100% healthy again I would imagine you would have the shave as often as before your illness. All the best mate.

If you are shaving, say, on the first and then again on the third, that would be odd. Otherwise, shaving on the second and fourth would be even. :tongue_sm

I've got to believe it is due to your body's response to the infection. All your resources were diverted to fighting the microscopic buggers that were trying to kill you . . . little processes like growing facial hair are given a lower priority by "command central" . . .

Hope you're feeling better and on the way to a full recovery!!

Firstly: sorry to hear that you were sick James and I am happy and relieved to hear that you are back on track.
Secondly: this doesn't strike me as odd at all- a friend from the office badly broke his leg in a skiing accident a few years ago and spent a considerable amount of time in hospital. He lost quite a bit of weight while he was hospitalised (even though he ate well) and the hospital staff explained that his body was burning calories while trying to repair itself. In your case, I'm sure that your body decided that it had better priorities........ and left "growing facial hair" somewhat farther down the list.

Get well soon!
