Al's Shaving Cream

So about two months ago I got a tub of Saigon Shaving Cream from the wonderful people over at Al's Shaving products. I haven't used it much, mainly because of my love for C.O. Bigelow, however, I did promise Al that I would share what I believe to be a wonderful product. The lather was great. It isn't heavy at all and it shaves exceptionally well. I've gotten very good results from it, the only thing I will say is that for me it took a little bit more water than I'm used to using, but no big deal. Once I was able to build up a good lather I was very happy with it! :biggrin1: As for the scent, I'm not well exposed to enough of the different scents to explain it properly, but it does have a hint of lime. I actually wasn't crazy about the scent at first but it has begun to grow on me. Sorry if this was a sub-par review as it was my first one. Any constructive criticism is as always, welcome. I would definitely recommend picking some up.

Al's Bomb is some very good shaving cream. The Saigon was my first scent from Al. The lime you're picking up may actually be lemongrass. I also get a nice nutty/earthy vetiver element in the Saigon. His cream will certainly provide some incredibly stable, rich and slick lather. I've had 4 or 5 of his scents (some custom made for me) and am a believer in the product! Congratulations on going top shelf for an artisan cream.

I feel like I owe Al an apology. I thought I had a pretty solid method for creating a lather, but after watching the video on his website I make a much superior and fuller lather. Sorry Al! lol So I retract my previous statement of needing more water than usual, I need to use LESS water. :sailor:

+1 on Al's. The Bomb cream is so good, it can actually transform the performance of your blades. Find the Feathers too rough or choppy? Match them with the Bomb and try again. I find blades just eat through my stubble with the Bomb.

The Bomb is also a very forgiving cream - it performs well all the time, and exceptionally well when prepped properly. It's like the Nissan GT-R of creams - makes anyone look like a hero all the time.

+1 for Al's products. I've used his 'Goodfellas' cream(very good) and he made me up a fresh Lemon scented cream that is marvelous. Bravissimo paisan Al !

I am primarily a soap user, but Al's is the one shaving cream that I make sure to keep in my rotation! I have two custom scents-- vetiver/bay rum and rose/cedarwood-- that are outstanding.

Loves als creams.... What does goodfellas smell like? It's next on my list. Also try his after shave balms. Very very nice

Al's is now my morning standard shave cream after months of experimenting and surveying the market. Get a sampler, learn to use the cream, (sparingly, and whip it good) and settle on a scent. Boheme is my favorite - it is nearly intoxicating, and the smell sends me to a place in my head I hope to find sometime in this or another life - a real experience. However, after a while, one becomes almost immune to the scent, and it is the incredible things it does for my shave experience that brings me to it every morning.

Al's Shave Cream and Aftershave Balm is high class stuff!

I use soaps almost exclusively. I make an exception for Al's cream. I have used and enjoyed the Saigon scent a great deal, and several of the other ones are very fine, but I have also really loved the customizable option. Bay rum and vetiver? Done. And it was magical. So was the woods scent I came up with (pine, patchouli, cedar, clary sage, and oakmoss, for those who want to know). The lather is grand, the formula is clean. What more can you ask for?

I bought the sampler. Loved the perfromance but couldn't stomach the scents. If there was one that I liked it was the goodfellas scent.

Hope you tried before you tossed. I did not like most of the scents in the container, but most of them were better once lathered. My favorite was also Good Fellas (followed by Calabria and Saigon).
