Allergy to Pinaud

After all of the reviews on Pinaud have been positive, I took the plunge and bought some. I really enjoyed the classic scent, but after 15 minutes or so, I started to itch all over. Itching super bad. I am sad to say, I think Pinaud is just not for me. It sure was a sad day in PA.

Which one were you using? Maybe you're allergic to something specific to the scent. Maybe you could try a sample of other scents to see if it's any better. Have you had this happen with any other brand and scent?

Sorry you had a problem. It's one of the finer things in life readily available to the common man or, in certain circumstances, the uncommon lady. Is there any possibility that the underlying problem was the shave it followed?

I was using the original scent. I actually tried it twice and each time, I itched like a madman. I was thinking it could have been the shave. I may try the Virgin Island Bay Rum. I can't give up this easily.

Try the Clubman Vanilla and Musk. Scent is similar to Clubman original but the formulation may be different.

Another scent that is in the same ball park is Master Topaz. Maybe a different manufacture might not irritate you.

I may try their other scents in the future. I could always sell the ones that I'm allergic to. Look out, Gents, there could be a jumbo pack of Pinaud products for sale in the future.

Also try Coachman by Lustray. I've heard it's pretty much identical.

Damn Kirk, that blows. Try the Floid, the menthol in it really rocks.

Before you pitch that Clubman, try this: take some and put it in the crook of (inside) your elbow. If you start to itch there, it's an allergy. If not, it might just be the rest of your shave routine causing it in addition. With time and practice, your irritation from shaving will lessen, and you might then be able to enjoy it again.

Thanks for the advice, Wingnut. I just tried it because I am sitting here wanting to make it work. I want to wear that classic barbershop scent. Well, I started to itch and feel like I have bugs crawling all over me in about 20 minutes. I guess it is not meant to be.

I may have to try other samples of Clubman products. I am not going to give up this easily.

If you like the scent of original clubman Avon wild country is almost identical. I use their after shave balms when I want that clubman scent but a balm instead of a splash

Definitely seems to be something in the Clubman. I just quickly scanned the ingredients in my Clubman compared to the VEG. I found the Clubman has more ingredients. It might be worth trying to cross reference ingredients, from other products that work, to cross of ingredients. You may find that a few are only present in the Clubman. You could use that information to guide your purchases in the future.

I would take Turlte's advice on trying a different product that smells the same, roughly. He knows what he's talking about.
