Last night, my Super-Speed (year as yet undetermined) arrived, along with a tub of TOBS Avocado cream. I shaved my head with my Futur and the Avocado (fantastic lather from that cream!), and then went to bed with visions of a shave with my new toy dancing in my head.
This morning's shave:
TOBS Avocado
Vulfix 2197 (Pure)
Derby Blades
Super-Speed
GFT Limes Extract SKin Food
I whipped up another gooey mass of Avocado lather and applied liberally to my face, then moved the Derby from my Futur to the SS (it was 2 face shaves and 1 head shave in), locked and loaded, and started shaving.
First impressions: the SS is definitely lighter than the Futur, and feels almost like using my old M3. I switched blades mid-shave, because I was getting the impression that the blade was pulling without cutting much hair. It seems that a head shave for me may be the equivalent of 2 face shaves in terms of blade wear; more research may be required.
At any rate, it was a great shave. I did 2 passes, and really felt confident and comfortable with the sS. The only negative is my own stupid fault; in feeling like I was using a Mach 3, I made an ill-advised lateral move under my chin, and ended up with a thin red line. It wasn't bad, just a rookie move. I also find myself occasionally going for shaving-commercial cheekbone-to-chin strokes, and I have to tell myself to dial it back and go for shorter strokes.
In all, a good shave - I will definitely use the SS for the face. I'm not sure about the head; I felt like the SS would not have enough weight to adequately weed-whack on my noggin, and I might get impatient and put pressure on, leading to unpleasantness.
I hope this mild case of RAD clears up!
