I am looking to purchase another Brush, and would like some advice on which brush to get.
I have been using the VDH brush since my wife got it for me in a Kit (roughly about 4-5 months ago). I don't really have many complaints about the brush, but then again; I've never experienced a "good" brush for comparison. It seems that many people consider the VDH Kit brush to be a "usable" but not neccissarily a good brush.
I would imagine that in order for decent advice, it would be good to know what I am looking for. Here goes. (hope not too long)
1) I would like a Badger Brush. One of these days I may go with a good quality Boar, but right now, I think I would like a Badger Brush.
2) I would like it to be either a "best" or "Super" Brush. Doesn't need to be high end, but I would like something of better than low end.
3) I do have to watch my budget, so I would like it to be <=$80 in cost.
4) I would rather it have a bit more of a flatter form rather than a round "light-bulb" form in the way the hair is formed on the brush.
5) I'm looking to have a bit of a smaller brush. Thinking of maybe a 20mm to 21mm knot.
6) I would like the brush to have some density to it. I don't want something that is going to flop over when it gets weight from the water, but still soft and easy on the face.
7) I pretty much use soaps exclusively (at least to date at this point), so something that is going to work on soaps.
8) I would like something that works good for both face and bowl lathering. I have lately started primarily doing face lathering, but I will probably do some face and some bowl lathering.
Issues:
I don't know if it really has any bearing on what brush to get or not, but we tend to have hard water here. It may not be extremely hard, but hard enough.
As for the cost (#3), or the different "level" of Badger brush (#2), those aren't "hard-set in stone" things, but things I would like to keep in perspective. In other words, if good solid advice from the remaining preferences that is outside preference # 2 and #3, I would consider them rather than rule it out.
