Adjusting the loft?

So I have a parker brush but the loft is like 58mm. I think it is a finest badger or best badger or something (it was $40 at the local shop) which should have some backbone but this damn thing is FLOPPY. I watch all these videos of guys getting mountains of awesome, creamy lather from a tiny (almond) sized dollop of cream but I can barely get enough for 3 passes when I use a quarter's worth. I'm thinking that this is a combination of two things... floppy brush making it hard to lather up and a lot of exposed hair that sucks all the lather up.

So... Here's the question... Is there a way to take it apart and re-set the knot to make the loft lower? What kind of tools would I need to do this or would it be better to send it to one of our fine hobbyists who make customs and see if they can do it for a reasonable price? Remember, it only cost me $40 in the first place but I like the handle size so...

Ok, thanks.

Lots of variables in play here, depending how much you like the handle and/or the knot. I think the general rule of thumb would be that you could save one or the other, knot or handle. But saving both just to readjust the loft might be quite difficult. Not sure which Parker brush you have, so perhaps you can indeed get the knot out easily. But I don't think that would be the norm.

It's ghetto but you could try O-rings.
