Adding Glycerin to Aftershave splashes

Hi,

So my current fav setup is mixing Aqua Velva Ice Sport with Thayers Alcohol Free Unscented Witch Hazel as follows;

10ml Aqua Velva
10ml Thayers
5ml Vodka

for a total of just under 1oz

However i want to make it more moisturizing by adding some glycerin. So my question is how many drops of glycerin should i add to 1oz of this mixture without making it too "sticky" when it dries down?

Thanks

AV already has the right amount of glycerine. In my experience if you add more glycerine it will become sticky. Instead, try something better, add jojoba oil.

Agreed, AV has plenty of glycerin already. Some Thayers might already have glycerin too: I think all the alcohol-free varieties have glycerin.

For raw drugstore witch hazel I add 1/2-tsp glycerin per 12-oz, or about 2.5-mL per 355-mL. That is enough for me to notice an effect on my skin, but not enough to make it feel sticky.

Target a 1% mix: mine works out to a bit less, but a bit more is probably fine. Anyway you are mixing a small batch so you can always add more of your other ingredients. A drop is supposed to be 0.05-mL, so 1 drop per 5-mL. Leave out the AV because it already has glycerin. If your Thayers has no glycerin you could try about 3 drops, to supplement the witch hazel and the vodka. If your Thayers has glycerin, 1 drop for the vodka.

Does that help? Let us know where you end up.

Ok thanks. My thayers does have glycerin in it, I dont have any jojoba oil but i do have some grapeseed oil that i use to make my preshave oil with. I wonder if a few drops of that would do.
