What's new

Added Glycerin and Witch Hazel to my AS - turned out very nice .

I got the idea after reading here in this forum for the last couple of months, so I decided to try it. My standard AS is Nivea Sensitive Post Balm lotion, and although I like that it is not harsh, I always felt it was a little bland, and I did not feel it was hydrating the skin as good as it would/could, so I decided to try something new. So to the 3oz of the Nivea AS I added about 25 drops of the Glycerin, and then roughtly about one ounce of the Witch hazel astringent. I mixed it well, and I tried it today after my shave (Gillette Black blade on an EJ89 with TOBS Avocado), and my face felt much more hidrated than ever before - it was great. Not only that, but usually after I shave, my face takes a couple of hours until it feels "normal" again (maybe a tiny amount of razor burn?), but today, after this mix, my face felt normal right away. I am really impressed

Great experiment! Glad it's treating your face better. Witch Hazel is absolutely some magical stuff.

Thanks man. I am convinced the improved feel on my face is coming from the Witch Hazel - great stuff indeed!

Since there are three ingredients, I didn't do the opposite. I had a bottle of witch hazel and added some Shulton Old Spice for scent and some glycerine. Worked out fine.

Guess I did a sideways.

Interesting. Trying out different concentrations sounds like something fun to try :biggrin1:

Walgreens, Sprouts, probably Walmart, etc. - the usual subjects. You can also do a search on-line. This is the one I found locally:

Walmart has it here. I made my own unscented aftershave a while back: cup of everclear, half a cup of witchhaze (from walgreens so it had alcohol as well), and two table spoons of glycerin. Stuff works great. I usually layer it with scented aftershave that doesn't have glycerin or witchhazel. I only recently had to make a second batch.
