If they're truly better (highly subjective word to begin with) and serving coffee then they shouldn't be adding salt IMO. I generally don't drink restaurant coffee anyway as it's typically an afterthought at many restuarants. There are very few coffee shops that I find worth going to and they don't have to rely on the crutch of adding salt to their coffee.I read that many of the better restaurants add a pinch of salt to their coffee.
Try it and see for yourself. Some people enjoy it. It's impossible to tell you if you will or not.Wondering if that is something I have been missing out on?
Nope. Salt's used to reduce bitterness. If the coffee's too bitter then other adjustments should be made IMO (better beans, lower brewing temp, freshly brewed coffee, etc). That said, coffee's as subjective/YMMV as any other topic on this site so do what works for you.Question: Do you add salt to your coffee?
