About to pull the trigger on a horn Shavemac. Question though about knot/ loft size

It completely amazes me how quickly one can immediately find preferences in this bladed la cosa nostra. In the few weeks that I've started DE shaving and joined this board, I've found that:

Gillette SharpEdge blades are not for me
Personna Labs are
I prefer face lathering
Soap > cream (for me)

So, with that in mind, I'm looking to invest in an additional brush. I love the look of the real horn Shavemacs. I'm buying a brush with the sole purpose of face lathering soaps, and I've still not figured out a proper knot size and why I would choose such.

I'm considering the Silvertip with a 21mm knot and 52mm loft. I'm wondering if this will give me desired results with face lathering or if I would be better served with the 24mm knot and 54mm loft size.

FWIW I currently have a starter size AoS pure badger and Semogue 620. The Semogue is a great brush and face lathers very well for me.

i have 2 shavemac's {excellent choice} i have D01 23x47 a great brush for face lathering in a 167 shape
check out the expert slot on the site great combo's

If you're looking for a 21mm face latherer I'd keep the loft closer to about 46 or so. As Bruce said 21/52 will likely be too floppy to be an efficient face lathering brush.

I have a DO-1 3 band and that would be about 10mm more loft than I have. Each to their own but I think that's too much loft for a silver tip.

I think it's worth mentioning that you are showing superb potential already.

I am a face latherer my self. So my opinion is that you should look for brushes in the range of 20 mm to 22 mm knot. The loft may vary from 50 mm ( for pure and black badger ) to 46 mm - 47 mm for silver tip. For Two band Super can be 48 mm to 50 mm. It depends also on how dense the knot is.

I have 3 Shavemac's, all are 23 x 52 knot x loft with bulb shaped knots. They're all great brushes and I face lather exclusively.
