Being that it was made in 1909, it's 101 years old. Snagged it for $70 which I think is a bargain for the gold sets because you don't see the gold sets often, only the silver sets.

nah; i thought the vendor on ebay of this set was a member of b&b; wasn't it dmoyer from sarasota, fl who was the vendor on this auction?
I apologise, I didn't notice the date at the top of the first post. It's a beautiful thing! Is it solid gold or gold-filled? Given the price, I suspect the latter.
Why oh why can't we have awesome stuff like this today...

That's a really nice set. I definitely see more silver plain sets then gold ones. I'm not sure how frequently we see a gold Scroll handle razor but mine is gold. But my set is the rare gunmetal basket set with the Gillette diamond on the center of the cap.

Len, seeing as how the handles didn't really have a defined set, ie: Floral handle in a basket weave case, do you think I'd be wrong for transferring the handle, head pieces and blade box to the rare ABC set leather case?

That's the seller on Ebay, yes. I think if he hadn't have put a reserve price on it, it would have went for much more. We tend to dislike reserve auctions. And if you're a B&B member, why not put it on the B&B B/S/T thread and just flat out ask what you want for it? 8 times out of 10, someone comes along willing to pay what you want. Just my opinion. Either way, I'm happy to have this set.
I would probably keep the set intact. I have only seen the leather set with the silver shell handle. I have two. Is that what you have? Of course to display your sets you can do what you want. But when it comes time to sell, if you sell, the set should be original.

Yeah, I bought the leather case for $11. Has a mismatched Valet razor in it.
I think finding the razor alone is going to be hard, but easier than finding one in the leather case together.
