A visit to Rudy Vey’s shop

I had the privilege of meeting Rudy Vey today. Turns out he lives about 35 mins from my house.

A couple months ago I came across a stash of my old shaving brushes. 2 were given to me by my dad back around 1981-82 when I first started shaving. For sentimental reasons I wanted to use one but they were both beat to hell, so I decided to restore.

I had a real pleasant visit and loved watching him work. I would recommend him in a heartbeat!! And if you get the chance to meet him in person, do it!! We talked about our travels, shaving brushes (of course), and what kind of soaps he likes -tallow, he likes tallow. Haha, old school. I love it!!

Here he is in his workshop breathing life into my old brush. Thanks Rudy!! See you again some day.
