Well Yesterday was it........I am now officially the big 40.
A little backstory:
About a week or so ago I was talking with my Grandmother. She knows of my passion for shaving and straights hones etc. She tells me that she has a couple of stones that she recently found whil going through a drawer. There is no telling how long they had been sitting in said drawer.
She begins to describe one to me, told me it was My Great Great Grandfather's, on my Grandfather's side, razor hone. She described it as being a yellowish color on one side and black on the other. The unusual thing , to her, was that the separation line was wavy, not a straight line.
By now I am thinking, no way! Could this be a natural combination coticule that was my GG Grandfather's, and has been passed down to the men in the family? I am almost certian by the description, but would not know for sure until I saw it.
Well I unwrapped it, and there was no doubt it is a coticule. Not just any coticule, but one that has been in my family for at least 4 generations. It is dished, nicked and beat to hell, but still has lots of life left in it.
